2 Failed Donor Egg Cycles -Shoud I seek Immunity testing?
Hi Ladies –
I’ve been exploring you’re board….you all seem smarter than the doctors! I am with Shady Grove in MD in the shared risk donor egg program. We’ve just had our 2nd failed cycle, transferring 2 AA, AB quality blasts each time. My RE doesn’t believe in immunity issues and has no plans to do further testing. My uterus has been perfect and my DH has tested perfect too. We’ve always had near perfect fertilization. I can’t really find any info online about numerous failed DE cycles and what to do next. I know there are no guarantees, despite the 3:1 success rates they boast. But with such high success rates, I can’t help but feel there is something else wrong. Even though we won’t be out much more financially to continue in the program with the 4 cycles we have left, I don’t want to invest physically and emotionally, if I should be seeking further testing. I figure it can’t hurt to seek immunity testing. Does anyone know if ins. covers it and have any recommendations of who I should contact. I have read a little about Dr. Beers, but I’m seeking your personal opinions first. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!

Rhonda,
Unfortunately most RE's don't believe in immune tx. which leaves many of us in the lurch after failed cycles. Dr. Beers is a great place to start. If you go to the incidd website there is also a bb you can ask your question to a doctor. Here is the link. http://www.______.org/forum/index.php. Unfortuantely a lot of that testing is not covered by insurance but it all depends on your coverage and how it's coded. On the incidd site Dr. Coulam moderates the immune and she could advise you if you ask your question. She's closer than Beer's Center. I think many girls have gone there or had testing done there. Both are good. http://repro-med.net/ Stacey |

Rhonda, I saw Dr. Abbasi in Bethesda. She's great and the only doctor I know in the tristate area that follows Dr. Beer's protocol. She takes all types of insurances (except for mine as luck would have it). If you want her contact info just pm me.

If your insurance does not cover the doctor that does the testing, you can look at sending in for reimbursement as an out of network provider. I did this and I put immune issues as the dx. Do not out fertility issues as the dx.

Hi!
I am also a patient at Shady Grove...TTC for second child for 3 years+. I'm 44 years old and had my first child at 39 without assistance. Decided to use donor eggs due to high FSH...was a perfect candidate. Also in SG's shared risk program. 4 failed donor egg fresh cycles with different donors and numerous failed frozen cycles. Just received results of immune testing from a doctor in NY since SG doesn't perform this testing....elevated natural killer cells. Trying to figure out if Intralipid therapy would benefit me. Also trying to figure out how to go about getting the therapy? I know nothing about it. |

CeCe- Thanks for the info! I'm with SGrove in Rockville. It's a 5 hour drive, but worth looking in to. Take care and thanks again
