Should I start blood thinners now? Help me decide.

After 4 losses in the last 2 years (1 at 8 weeks and then 3 biochemicals), I requested that my doctors rerun the thrombophilia panel. After the second loss, I had a low + for the anticardiolipin Igm but they had discounted the results as transient. I requested that they rerun it just to make sure, and now I have a high + for all three ACA (Igm, Iga and Igg). The hematologist was going to start me on heparin immediately (I am 3 dpo), but the RE wants me to wait for a BFP. My last 3 losses were so early that I'm afraid that will be too late. I have the prescription for Heparin 5000 that he gave me yesterday to be used every 8 hours. I am tempted to fill the prescription and use it. Thoughts? FYI, I also am hetero MTHFR.

Olive,
So sorry for your losses. There are different theories. I'm also hetero MTHFR and have moderate IgM elevation for ACA and low for IgG. I just came off a failed cycle where I did lovenox post O. I honestly do not think I would do it again until a BFP but that's me because I'm more borderline. I think your hematologist has good advice and I would follow the advice of your doctor but you might also want to consult with a high risk perinatalogist to see what they have to say. Good luck!

Olive - I have ACA as well, and my RE has told me no lovenox until definite pg. Check with your RE and hemotologist before starting the heparin - for some reason it sticks in my head that lovenox is safer during pg than hep. I've tried both ways and no success either way, so while I'm inclined to go with the try the shots can't hurt/might help approach, in my case it didn't make a difference. Good luck.

I started the hep on day 5. Every 12 hours. Every 8 hours seems too often. But I wouldn't wait if you are worried.
