Immune question (m/c ment)

Hi ladies,

Please pardon my ignorance about immune issues but I have a quick question.

Should I worry about immune issues if I have never been pregnant nor had a m/c after almost 3 years of ttc? I have had 6 IUI's and doing my first IVF now and never had a BFP. Was anyone diagnosed with immune issues after being "unexplained" and never had a m/c? Should I insist that my doc do immune testing?

Thanks for your help.

My quick response - YES. I have had 5 failed IUI's and one failed IVF... and then did the testing... I have low LAD #'s and elevated NK cells... read the pinned threads for what that all means, but I DO have immune issues indeed.

Yes, I did the testing at the start of one cycle. While waiting several weeks for the test results, I ovulated and we became pg. It turned into a chem pg. We received the immune test results and finally understood what was going on.

Immune issues are often responsible for IF and very, very early loss that you may not even know about. You can see if the latter has happened through the LAD, which is part of any proper reproductive immunology workup. http://www.repro-med.net

On the other side of the spectrum, if underlying infections are causing your problems, they certainly can also cause IF. http://www.fertilitysolution.com

I wish you the very best. Good luck with your testing.

Thank you both. I am going to call my nurse today. I'm guessing that these tests are not covered by insurance even if I am covered for IVF? Any idea how much they might cost?

It probably varies depending on where you are, but to give you an idea, try www.millenova.com. There's a complete listing of tests they do. Best wishes!

My insurance covered all my testing. It was through Dr. Beer's office and was labeled as "autoimmune disorder testing," which is what it was. Hope that helps.
