IVF#2 Cancelled

Yup, the cyst is bigger, E2 is higher and endometrium is thicker so this cycle is a bust!!

I truly do not believe that it is a functional cyst. I have had cysts before and still o'd on cd14 and had AF on cd28- like clockwork, my whole life. Nurse said that a functional cyst is an empty follicle that produces estrogen and therefore thickens the endometrium.

DH and I believe that it was not breakthrough bleeding a few weeks ago when on those progesterone only bcps, and it was actually AF and that this is not a cyst, but a 17mm follicle that is going to release in a few days (on schedule) and that is why my E2 is up and endo thickening. It is just doing what it is supposed to--I am ovulating! Breakthrough bleeding is one thing, I was having to change my tampon every hour (like my usual AF). I'll know in a few days if I have o pains.

With either true, the cycle has to be cancelled.

I'm really ok with it. I have had a negative attitude about it from the get-go. 2005 has been a really bad year for us, so I rather start fresh in 2006. I know it sounds crazy, but that is how I feel. I am scheduled to start stims mid Jan and ER first week of Feb. I will have the IVIg tx the week I start stims. I am lucky b/c they only do IVF cycle four times a year, but for some reason, these are back to back.

I hope all had a happy turkey day!!

Danielle

Danielle,

I'm sorry to hear the news, but it actually sounds like this is the right thing! And good for you for knowing your body so well, and for looking ahead to 2006! Also, maybe you'll get pg with this month's ovulation??? That would certainly be a great thing! Best wishes and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey Lauren,

Thanks for the kind words. I would love to ttc this month, but we are cancelling the IVIg on Friday also. I am afraid to attempt ttc without it b/c I don't want to increase the level antibodies. What do you think?

When do you start stims? Is it 11/29? I don't know why that date is popping into my head.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Danielle,

Oh, I understand about the IVIg. Also, it's expensive with the relatively low odds of natural BMS. So, on to 2006!!!!

You are right about Lupron on 11/29. Great memory!! I'm excited but also concerned that all of these hormones will make me a wreck at work. DH is very supportive so I'm not too concerned about functioning well at home. I have time off work the week of ER/transfer, so that should work out well. It's the time up until then that I'm worried about! There's no option to take time off before the ER...

Hi Lauren,

My protocol did not include lupron. Mine was the antagonist approach with Antagon, so I can't tell you what it feels to be on Lupron, but I can tell you about the other stims. I took Repronex and Follistim. I had absolutely no problem. Actually, I felt great when I was on the injectibles. I do well with anything that increases estrogen. I had ~20follicles at ER, and all I felt was a little bloated.

On the other hand, I do awful with the estrogen-inhibitors such as clomid- oh, i mean clomood! Hehe!!

You will do fine. I can't wait for you to start. When do you think ER and ET will be?

Thanks for cheering me on, Danielle!!! Your support means a lot to me as I am very nervous/excited. My ER/ET week is Dec. 18th. My clinic is well-known for its prolonged coasting, so if I hyperstim, they'll delay things for a few days, then continue. Hopefully all will go well, whatever happens.

Warmest regards to you!
Lauren
