To Lexigirl from Paell

Hello!

I am sorry to have taken so long to respond to your post. i have not quite figured this board out, and finally decided to reply to you this way.

Congratulations on your very nearly almost here baby...three days to go at least to the due date. amazing!

Thank you so much for responding to my post. it is great to hear from someone who has had a mole and some real chemo - 16 weeks implies you had to work hard to get rid of your mole. i had a similar situation, it took 22 weeks of chemo to get rid of mine and wow, i am just recovering now. i would like to tell you my story and see if there are any commonalities. i am still looking for answers to all the strange things that have happened to me, starting with the mole.

i had a complete mole diagnosed at 6 weeks, had a d&c, very successful, then 2 weeks later started haemorhaging(sp?) alot!!! and with u/s discovered the mole was back, and it was big!!! i had methotrexate for 3 weeks with no success at all, so they added actinomycin d and after a total of 5 1/2 months i went into labour and a day later the tumor came out, intact. it was totally and disgustingly bizarre. i continued with the chemo as my numbers were still up but were dropping nicely and then i had a huge lung reaction, which i now believe was autoimmune related. i was hospitalized for a week and nearly died in the hospital. oh, the irony!! they could not explain what was happening, but finally treated me with everything they had and the last thing was prednisone, and it worked. a couple of months later i was found to have a complete gluten intolerance (celiac disease), which i now understand from this board is another immune issue.

anyway, all that to say, it is such a relief to find someone else who is ttc, who's had a mole and lots of chemo - so many people who have a mole get rid of it so easily and i just cannot relate as the chemo was a bit dreadful, really, and caused fatige for a year afterwards and i still had a compromised immune system 1 yr and 9 months later (another immune issue?) i have been ttc for 16 months or so after waiting 6 months after the mole came out, i believe acupuncture and herbs helped with my if problem, but then of couse i m/c'd once i got pg so now there is this new issue of recurrent m/c.

i am so relieved to have found this board and to know about the possibility that i have an immune issue, which may explain some things and will hopefully be treatable.

I realize this is a very long post, but it is a relief to tell my story. for all the time i've spent on bb's there are so few people i can relate to as there have been so many things happen, and the mole is so unique, and the long chemo treatment is also so unique, so you are sort of getting a couple of year's worth of info in one shot here. it feels very good to write all this out to someone who might possibly understand. i have also been relentlessly upbeat this past year so no one around me knows there are any problems(except my dh, of course), other than the 1 million doc's appointments and chronic colds etc, . phewph!

if you are still reading i have a few questions... it sounds like you were being treated for immune issues and then had your mole. i had hoped that if i am found to have immune issues it could explain how/why the mole happened, but your situation would make that seem less likely. is that correct, that you had the mole during treatment? did the doc's think there was any correlation with your immune problem, like it may cause moles? do you mind my asking what your immune problem was and how it was diagnosed? sorry to be so inquisitive, but after spending nearly a year on if bb's, i've never seen anyone post for a mole where they were treated with chemo for more than a couple of weeks. have you recovered from the chemo yet? i believe i have, now, but just in the past couple of weeks...i just have a feeling that i am better, and the chemo stopped in feb 04 (although i was knocked flat by the lung problem which really damaged my health and healing).

how are you now? how do you feel? what do you do for yourself to be good and kind and to take care of yourself? i see a traditional chinese medical doctor and she had helped me more than i could have thought possible with herbs and acupuncture. i also drink 1 oz of wheatgrass juice most days. i feel pretty fab, actually (i've done these things since late july and i notice such an improvement overall!).

i am so so pleased to hear about your baby coming, that is very exciting. i would love to hear back from you whenever you get a chance.

until then, take care.

paell.

Paell, I will pass this message on to Lexigirl... she is a little bit busy with some personal (good news) stuff but I will hopefully get her here for replying to you.

I think you two will be an excellent support for each other with the common experience you had to endure.

luv from Ally

Ally - Thanks for letting Paell know that I've been busy.

Paell - I promise I'll sit down & write you a long post very soon...once my little one is sleeping through the day. He's sleeping now but is a bit on the fussy side in the evening so I'm just catching up on shorter posts right now.
