Help w/Heparin bruising?
Hi all - anyone have any hints/tips to stop it from bruising so much? My stims in the tummy are fine, but the hep locations are totally black&blue. I think it's way worse bc I'm taking b/a this cycle too - Christina

You will bruise... it is a given.
I like remedies: Witch Hazel (soak cotton pad apply) and Arnica Creme (rub into affected/bruised areas)... not much else to do but know that it'll all be worth it and they do fade after finished using heparin... Ally

I used Arnica Gel... can't say if it did the trick, because I never "didn't" use it... but I didn't have much bruising. I bought it at Whole Foods. I don't know if the gel and creme are very different. Hope that helps! Lauren

I'm not sure that I should be posting responses on this bb being I'm not currently active doing immune meds but I saw the post & really wanted to help you out with what I was told to do & it really helped. I tried the Witch Hazel & Arnica & they didn't work for me at all. One nurse at SIRM in NYC told me to try to do a circle around my belly button, about a 1/2-1 inch away....start at the top & go around. For some reason, that close to the belly button was better. Also, her other tip was to inject & then press firmly on the injection site for about 2-3 min. I hope these tips help. Even though they did minimize the bruising for me, I was still very black & blue but not as badly - I used to get about a golf ball size doozer of a dark black/blue/purple spot when I didn't do as this nurse had said. Gosh, just talking about this is making me cringe - LOL! I'm actually glad I don't have to do Heparin & still going to be a mommy!!!
Good luck!
