I realized (thru trial and error)
-medicine is not an exact science
-the outcome could be, I will not be pregnant
-go in with no expectations, but keep a positive attitude
-always have emotional support ready for when you need it (bc u never know when u'll need it!)
-not to be so hard on myself
-expect the unexpected
-I am not alone!
-to stop being so fatalistic, and this challenge too shall pass...
good luck to everyone!

Hi girls and thank you for your supportive words! i think people forget how important having a positive attitude and positive energy is! everyone in the community here is our support so always feel free to chime in and join the rant.
as for hubby and myself, our RE is recommending ivf for our next move. its a bit more involved in terms of medications and procedures compared to iui..but we feel we are ready now. one more thing i learned, you have to feel ready before agreeing to any form of treatment. anyone with some good tips prior to going in to ivf?
thanks again, and positive energy to you all!still hoping for my baby dust! or the baby stork!

What worked for us: I took my vitamins, DH took his, I did meds, DH helped (got a couple laughs from that), I did acupuncture, DH took care of other things... we expected at least two cycles (IVF and/or FET) for success (unexplained, age 38+41), I allowed myself to be realistic. Given our circumstances, I was far from "positive" but I paid attention to the encouragement and hope others had. It got us through. I'm glad you are ready for a new step. FX, FX.

Mimi, thanks for the support, we hope we will only have to go thru it once! (i am very phobic when it comes to needles!) good luck to you as well.
ttc, thanks for your input to what helped you. i have to say when we finished our 5th iui cycle, I def wasnt feeling positive. I was down in the dumps! but i know that was partly due to the hormones I was on.... i am also getting acupuncture and taking supplements. I REALLY started feeling myself (and hopeful)when i started reading 'the infertility cure', started taking herbs(from my acupuncturist) and added acupressure (i have my husband do this from the book)...after taking a 4 mos cycle break and cutting out a big chunk of work stress (huge lifestyle change), we're ready! i also am going to the gym more regularly now. anyone else working out?
any good reads from your end girls? someone mentioned hannahs hope to me....anyone who wants to read more on 'the infertility cure', u can find it on my planningiui.com site. keep the positive energy up for us. we start our protocol this weekend. :O

Thank you for all your encouraging words! Does anyone know if iui is a good choice for male factor i.e. low sperm count/motility not so great morph? It is so hard to get an honest answer from the doc because he says it is possible for us to get pregnant that way but does recommend IVF as the "home run". IVF is not something our insurance covers so we are a little hesitant... Has anyone attempted iui with this scenario and have it work? Some support and guidance would be welcomed. All of this is so overwhelming!

AwaitingBabydust,
Welcome to the site!! I can hear you loud and clear. When I went through IVF I was SO scared, I began to literally have stomach pains from fear.
But I got through it, needles and all. I was so bad with needles that when I used to give blood I would faint!! I did it and prayed A LOT!!! Stay strong and try to stay positive. It worked for me.
The other website at fertilityauthority really helped me as well. Check it out you will probably like it as well.

awaitingbabydust: Fertility cure is a really good read. Katiegirl; Sorry to say IUI is not the prescribed treatment for male factor issues. Since his swimmers are challenged the best way to go is to harvest your eggs and inject his sperm directly with icsi which bypasses the need for them to swim at all. I just sent you a private message. Hope you'll get back to me. Awaiting: Where are you on the east coast? I will shoot you a pm as well. IVF is more intricate and expensive, but it may be the way to go for you. let's talk.
