document, document, document!
Twice recently I have been told by an office worker at my clinic to come in at a certain time and date (which I always repeat back to them and carefully write immediately on my calendar) and unfortunately, the person who I spoke with over the phone didn't know what they were talking about. When I got to the clinic, they said I should've come in on a week day, or today I was told my RE is still on vacation!
What I should've have done is written down the name of the person I spoke with and the date and time that we spoke. Whoops! I really do want to help my clinic improve. From now on, I'm really going to try to do that with every single call I make to the clinic! This way, the clinic can find out if there is one particular employee who is creating the lion's share of these mix-ups.
