ER & Constipation

Sorry... TMI in the title but wanted to specifically tell you what this was about! LOL!

Listen, ER generally is done under anesthesia... which is notorious for "slowing the system down." Add to that all the horomones you're already taking... and you can become VERY uncomfortable in the days following ER due to constipation. Wish someone had told me to not only drink lots of water but most importantly to up my fiber intake for a couple days BEFORE the ER... so that way everything is already "flowing" nicely. I ended up with lots of fiber supplements afterwards & several miserable days until I got relief. Next time around, I'll start the supplements before & hopefully avoid it.

Sorry if TMI, but I really wish I would've known!

Melinda- I would like to second this advice!!!! Everyone, no, anyone, having ER should do exactly as you said: up the fruits and veggies, stay hydrated, and have a package of colace at home (to begin taking the moment you get there). I, too, had horrible problems with this, making my first four days post ER VERY uncomfortable.

I definitely would file this under "I wish someone had told me THAT!"
