Progesterone Suppositories sometimes delay AF

I wish someone would have told me that AF might not start while taking progesterone suppositories even though BFN.

I've taken them three cycles. Two cycles I had to wait to confirm BFN with a blood test after 16 DPO and then didn't start until about a week after I stopped taking them. One cycle I started AF while still taking the progesterone at 15 DPO.

Thanks for this. I finished up my first progesterone cycle 15 CDO with raised temps and a BFN. Now it's 3 days out, my temps have dropped 4/10ths of a degree and nothing. Guess I'll just keep using panty liners until I start. I hate panty liners. Sigh.

I had a cycle on Crinone suppositories where AF did not arrive until 2 days after stopping it. This cycle it arrived 2 days early while still on the Crinone! The nurse told me it is the "norm" to not get AF while on progesterone. But she said some people do though it is rare. From the ladies here on FT...does not seem that rare!

Sometimes even after taking my progesterone I still don't really have AF. I get a day of very light spotting sometimes after an annovulatory cycle and that's it. I spend a whole month completely anxious that I had a blockage, but I was wrong. Though it is not normal, sometimes that happens.

Can someone tell me what they are for? I am doing an IUI this month, since Fri the 8th I have been taking 225cc of follitsum pen. I have an ovidrel in the fridge. I was only told to start taking Progesterone Suppositories after the IUI. What is it for?

From what I understand as a non-medical person, the progesterone is a hormone that your body may or may not be producing to help maintain the pregnancy and uterus support of the fetus. You have less chance of miscarriage when using progesterone. Usually you are on it until around 8 weeks when the baby should be making his/her own progesterone. Good luck with the IUI

FUnny thing is my FET got cancelled last week as my lining was only 4mm. I was told to start prometrium (progesterone) vaginal supps 3/day x 7 days to bring on AF. It worked. I was only on day 6 of it when it started.

I normally use provera (progesterone) by mouth to get AF to start. I take 7 days worth but AF always starts at the very end of day 4 of the provera.

I took prometrium orally for 12 or 14 days following surgery to remove Ashermans Syndrome lesions from my uterus... they had me on estrace for 28 days and then prometrium for the last 12 or 14 days (can't remember which) of the estrace. I called and asked about AF too, they said 7-10 days after I stopped taking it I would get AF. I got it about a week after. I am now taking prometrium as a suppository 200mg twice a day. I started today (7 days post IUI) because my levels were low according to todays blood draw. I am hoping for a + beta next Tuesday... but if not, they never told me how long to take the prometrium for. I assume I take it till my bets is done and then d/c until next cycle.
