Cysts and weight gain - LOTS

I was just diagnosed with a blood filled cyst on my right ovary that is in the process of rupturing. Odd thing is that since this whole ordeal started about 2 months ago, I have gained about 12 pounds rapidly. For the last two months I have also gotten hives on right arm and leg just before my period. Have you heard of these symptoms? I keep calling my OB/Gyn and she says no to worry until we do the repeat u/s 3 days after my next period. I am freaking out that it's something more like estrogen dominance or god knows what. .... you can only imagine
