dr. Zouves or Dr. Milki (Stanford)?

Hi Everyone

I am 41 and have a high FSH 28.6, have been doing Acupuncture with Dr, Angela Wu for the past 4 months. I am thinking of undergoing an IVF cycle next month - has anyone here used either Dr. Milki at Stanford or Dr. Zouves. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Also does anyone know of any side effects that result from an IVF cycle - any serious one specially. One of my friends just told me that her cousin went through the infertility treatment and had ovarian cancer at a very young age, she does not know whether these two things were connected or not. But she wanted me to do the ground work and find more info before plunging into the iVF cycle. Any thoughts on this?

My email is simranlaks_2005@yahoo.com

Thanks much!

I cycled with Dr. Zouves as a gestational surrogate for my cycle previous to this one. He and his staff are absolutely wonderful and I cannot say enough great things about them. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They are open every day of the year as well, which I think is definitely a plus!

I can't answer you other question with any degree of reliability, but I highly doubt the two are related. I'm sure you could do a search on the web and find all the statistics you need.

Good luck!

Hugs,

Sirell

Dr. Zouves & his book

We just got back from a failed IVf from India (Lilavati Hospital, Dr. Pai). Now we are looking at local best doctors & clinics. The most important thing I found is that with IVF you need a compassionate doctor & clinic who like to give you more than prescriptions and embryos.

We are currently reading Dr. Zouves book, Expecting Miracles. It gives us strength to fight and go on. Also, it seems (from the case studies in the book) Dr. Zouves likes to dig and do a lot of homework trying to look for the causes of failures rather than just repeating the procedures with minor modifications.

The doctor in India was basically playing a numbers game. Conduct upto 4 IVF's a day and repeat for previous failed attempts. So he probably has the largest throughput with no real written statistics.

I spoke to the person in Stanford over the phone. She was more like an answering machine "... Come for first consultation.. we may have to do an u/s that day $300.. if you continue with us we will credit the $300 towards the procedure... Do you want to schedule?" On the contrary, the lady from dr. Zouves' clinic called me and gathered as much info from me about my wife & me. Then she scheduled a free phone 30-40 min. consult with Dr. Zouves. Before the consultation we have to send out reports and history to Dr. for review. After the consult, he will probably ask for more tests results if necessary, then he will decide on a protocol. Following that protocol, the financial consultation will happen. So far its all free of cost (considering the tests were done with insurance). Only when you like everything is you have to decide whether you want Dr. Zouves to help you. Also, since he is the only doctor who will personally take care of you, you will not get a different doctor based on the time and day of appt.

Please share your research about other clinics in the Bay area. I am interested in knowing about other good clinics too. PM me if you want.
