Uterine Abnormalities

Anyone in my shoes? I went to my RE today for a saline sonogram b/c my OBGYN had noted a slight heart shaped uterus. (I am currently on BCPs & was to begin Lupron on the 19th). Tomorrow I have to go in for a MRI to assess the severity. He said we will more than likely have to do a hysteroscopy to remove the septum. He said if we don't and the embryo implants there, I have a 50%+ chance of miscarrying. Epecially for those with multiple miscarriages, has anyone here have or had a septum at the top of the uterine cavity &/or a hysteroscopy? Any of your REs mention this as problematic?

I too have a heart shaped uterus, but the septum is very large in my case. I've had 5 BFPs but all ended in m/c. My old doc figured it was where the egg was implanting and wasn't getting good blood flow. We did an MRI and the doc didn't think I would benefit from the surgery.

I have a new doc now who is working with the Seattle Fertility Clinic and they are discussing whether or not the surgery would be beneficial. They are also looking into other reasons for all the m/c (my longest pregnancy was 12 weeks--really good growth and then suddenly everything just stopped) so they are not sure if it's the septum or something else causing all the problems.

On a happier note MANY women with bicornuate uteruses have healthy babies.

Good luck with you MRI and I hope you get a good prognosis.
