What should I do? (preg and mc ment)

I had my septum resected in Nov of 2005 and a follow-up surgery in Dec 2005. After my surgery I thought I would be able to TTC on our own. Well my RE wanted us to do shots and IUI. Well we don't agree because I never had problems getting pregnant just carrying. I had 2 mc last year. Well I called when I got my AF and left a message because they wren't in. I also told them that we didn't want to start the shots and IUI until after we got tax money back. I thought that would just get them off my back about it. I wouldn't mind doing what they want if I can't get preg. in a couple months. Well I haven't heard back from them yet and I always get a phone call right away and that was 5 days ago. My next problem is last moth my lining was a little thin and I am afraid it still could be what would you all suggest. Do you think this is something my regular ob/gyn could deal with. Thanks for all of your help. Sorry its so long.

Laura,

I'm so sorry to hear about what's happened to you. I'm not familiar with how the septum resection would or could impact your fertility. Perhaps you need to have a sit down conference with your RE and have him explain why he wants you to do IUI with shots. It's odd that he would suggest it for no reason, but he obviously hasn't explained his reasons to you. If I were you, I would want to understand that. Even if you choose to skip the IUI and shots, at least you'll be making a more educated decision.

When you left your message did you ask for a call back? It sounds like your message may have actually achieved what you wanted - getting them off your back. Although I do think, professionally, they should have called back anyway. But perhaps they just thought you wanted to be left alone until you decided you're ready to proceed with treatment. It's worth calling again and explicity requesting a call back. If they still don't call back, maybe you should consider moving to another RE.

Which brings me to my next point. I'm a big proponent of second opinions. It's worth getting a second opinion from another RE. It's normal and you do not have to feel the slightest bit guilty or disloyal about going for a second opinion. See what the second RE says, and you'll be more confident moving forward, however you decide to do it.

With or without IUI, there are probably things that either your OB or your RE could do for a thin lining. They can see the thickness of your lining by doing a transvaginal ultrasound, and they can check your estradiol level by doing blood work. When I have had a thin lining in the past, I have taken estradiol supplements to help maintain the lining. I don't know if that's indicated in your case, but it's worth asking.

I hope this helped a little. Good luck to you!
