In 2003, I was diagnosed with bilateral hydrosalpinx which was so extensive that tubal fimbria could not be identified on either side. We are planning to undergo IVF in Feb of 2006. I am curious for those of you with similar issues, if you have undergone IVF with or without BTL or Salpingectomy. I am interested in both sides if IVF was or was not successful. Any thoughts in retrospect?
HELP!

Hi there! I was also diagnosed w/ hydro tubes and had them removed prior to IVF on the strong recommendation from my RE. The fluid that builds up in the tubes can leek back to the uterus and cause a 'toxic' environment which in turn could lead to low chances of implantation or early m/c. Doesn't ALWAYS happen but it happens often enough that if IVF is your route..I would have those tubes removed beforehand. Once we moved on to IVF we were eventually successful but not right away. Our first IVF was neg. Our following FET was neg. Our 2nd IVF was pos but I m/c at 12.5 weeks. Our next FET was pos but another m/c. Our third IVF was pos. and we were blessed w/ b/g twins! Everyone is different...some ladies find success the first time and for some of us the road is a little longer. I wish you all the luck in the world on your cycle! ~Emma

Hi!
I have hydro tubes also. RE recommended to have them removed b/c of the reason above. I had a lot of scar tissue and was not able to remove them, but doc cauterized them for me. Good Luck to you! Carla Congrats on your twins, Emma! |

I have bilateral hydros. The first operation, they tried to repair them. That, I believe, was a mistake, and afterward, the doc even said it was a mistake. But he couldn't cauterize them (burning them shut) then, because he didn't get my permission beforehand. So about six months later, the doc cauterized the tubes. After two failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, our third cycle was positive!
