Trying really hard not to gain a lot of weight

I am already overweight, about the same weight I was with my son when I got pg. I would truly like to keep my weight under control this time instead of delivering at 223 pounds (I am 5'4").

It is so hard because with the morning sickness, eating feels good. Hungry feels really bad.

If you are overweight, how do you plan to keep the weight gain to a healthy range? I am starting to walk 2 miles a day and hope that with a goal in mind that will help.

    Anyone??

My cousin was overweight when she got pregnant. She lost weight the entire pregnancy, and didn't gain a pound. She delivered a healthy 7lb2oz baby. She just started to eat healthier, and that did the trick.

Hope this helps! Sounds like you're on the right track with the 2 mile walks. I'm trying to swim 3-4 times a week, and so far, it's working out well. Also, don't hold back on eating during the day; just have a lot of healthy foods within easy reach in the fridge, pantry, or on your desk at work. Good luck!

I would just ask your OB to refer you to see a nutritionist. They can really help you to set a goal on what to eat to maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy. I agree continue to eat just try to stick to the healthier snacks. Once you are feeling better you can start walking but for now just try to make it through the morning sickness.

I'm sorry you're going through so much m/s! That is never easy. Try swimming, or even just walking around in the pool. I did pregnancy PT in the pool and it felt so good (you feel weightless in the water). Other than that, I would recommend (as raven suggested) having healthy snacks on hand. Try string cheese, crackers (could be soothing to stomach as well), nuts, and fruit. I wouldn't focus on losing weight per se, but trying to eat healthier overall for you and the baby. And drink lots of water!

I love healthy snacks. I stock up from Nutty Guyz since we don't have a Whole Foods close, but I love roasted soy nuts, corn, and fried peas. Yum!

Sorry about the ms tlink! Hopefully it will ease up soon. Have you found any foods that stay down better than others?

I understand that many pregnant women don't want to gain a lot of weight while pregnant. Just try not to eat fried foods everyday, cook your foods baked instead of fried. This will help with not gaining an extra weight while pregnant.

You may have hyperemesis. I get not wanting to gain a ton.. I gained 100 w/ the twins and 80 w/ my singleton. I WAS SOO SICK I don't know how but I had the problem you're describing. If I was eating I wasn't puking! So I got huge. But it's like I tell everyone... "Hell, I'd rather be fat than PUKING!"

Eat what feels good. Being this sick is indescribable. You can lose the weight. Just get through this time! P.S. I lost it all both times. Ease up on yourself. Being sick is HARD!~
