    1st AF after lap...

    Hi,

I had a lap about 2 weeks ago in which stage II endo was removed. I had some implants on both ovaries and an adhesive band around the left ovary. I had adhesive bands thru out the pelvic cavity too. I reviewed photos with the doc and it looked like someone sneezed some bloody snot in my pelvis (sorry gross). Anyway, the doc said he was able to remove all of it.

I have been having af like cramps and low back achiness for a week. I was pain free after lap. I recovered fairly quickly after the surgery and took it easy until the doc gave me clear to resume regular activities (within 10 days of surgery). But af is due tomorrow and I am dying with af like cramps and low back pain. Its killing me! I have never suffered with af cramps/ pms b4. In fact, I never had symptoms with endo but now that endo has been removed, I am in pain. Is it normal to have cramps and low back pain with 1st AF after lap? Is that af typically worst? Is this part of the healing process.

Thanks so much for ur response.

You are still early in the healing phase. I always had a pain set back about three weeks out...and being you are coinciding with AF you could be in for a rough time. Make sure you take your pain meds as prescribed, use ice or heat as preferred and you get thru it okay.

It's possible, it doesn't take much to throw off AF. Even stress can do it, so surgery very definitely can make it late.

My first and second AF's after my lap were excruitiating! The doctor seemed to feel it was pretty normal and/or could mean that I was going to have bad cramps from here out.

The only thing that worked for me was pain killers/medications/warm baths/heating pads...and I even left work sick one day when the high-dose pain meds wouldn't even take the edge off! It was pretty bad.

    Hang in there!

Tex TTC #1, thank you for responding. did it get better after the 3rd month for you?
My AF is really short and now it is gone (2days and half). I am feeling fine now, but had to wake up a couple time last two nights due to the pain with AF. grrrrrr
Heating pad helped! Luckily, it was the weekend so i made it through by just laying in the couch/bed.

    PG mentioned

After the lap in April of this year, I started a FET in June. I was on BCP's for that cycle, but even the AF on the pills was terrible! I almost contemplated not going through with the FET because I couldn't imagine having a period after a medicated cycle that could have ended in a BFN. My period was pretty short too - 2 days heavy flow...maybe 3 or 4 days total. I actually got pregnant from the FET...so I haven't had AF again.

I'm so sorry...I know what it's like to wake up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain...it's terrible! My husband found me on the floor in the bathroom in agony on a few occasions

The good news is that I think the lap was successful...in that our first cycle after it had a good outcome (so far ).

    Best wishes and babydust!
