Thanks Bebe, Kat and Tras! I was too too sick to even workout until 10 weeks and then was at least able to do some cardio and weights even though I have still been sick. But I was keeping enough food down and I wanted to get my blood pumping. I think it is just the stretching that my abs and belly are doing but it definitely feels like pulling in my upper abs.
I am 13 weeks now and still dont feel great. I got really sick twice last week again and I still need my zofran daily. I am hoping in the next couple weeks it subsides and I can stop taking these meds! But I finally have a bigger appetite now and more foods are appealing and stay down which is great! But this could also be dangerouslol

I haven't gotten to catch up on the posts today but wanted to ask a quick question- have any of you had experience with babies that refuse to go to sleep because every time you lay them in the crib they stand up? Caitlin learned how to stand up about 10 days ago and sleep has been a total disaster ever since! No longer can I lay her in bed even drowsy- she wakes right up, crawls to the railing, and stands up. If I lay her down and walk out, she stands up and cries. I havne't ever had to do CIO with her but I honestly don't know any other option. It's taking forever to get her to bed and she is getting up several times per night. the only way I can get her back down is to rock her until she is completely asleep and snoring. It is so frustrating and I am getting really sleep deprived. I am hoping it's just a phase, but in the meantime I need to get her back to her normal good sleeping. Any suggestions? I should probably just give in and let her CIO but I know she will cry for a long long time!

alp, Timmy will sometimes do that, but I just leave him, and he lies himself back down pretty quickly when he's tired. I think you do need to just let her figure it out (i.e. CIO) on her own. It seems like the more you stay with her the more she's fighting sleep.. and if she knows you're going to come back in and get her, there's no reason for her not to get up and try!
krissy, it's probably good that you can start eating food now - you need to gain lots to have nice healthy babies in there
Did you manage to gain at all in the first tri?

I was not able to gain in the 1st tri at all. In fact I was so sick between week 7-8 that I lost 6 lbs so I have been in a deficit the whole time. I am back to where I was before getting so sick so now that I can eat more that is all I do!
Question for those with twins - did you have two separate bassinets for the beginning or did you get some kind of double bassinet or pack and play?

krissy - at the beginning, we just had one pack n play that we swaddled them and put them in together. they were so small at first, there was no need for two (plus they hardly squirmed). later, you would probably need two, but definitely not for the first month i would think!
kat - geezy pete do you have your hands full! working full time, caring for babies and cooking a full meal for a huge group! i swear you should have a cooking blog, with all your recipes and meals
they all sound so delish! exciting about the 6 mos appt! have you been giving the babies cereal and other foods? i am trying to be consistent about it (every day), but its challenging to always fit it in!!
jaymie - thats great about bella eating! did you say she has some teeth now? i think when my two start on finger foods, i will be super scared about them choking!!

Kat - seriously - I am constantly amazed by you! I love to entertain a few girls like for our playgroup or something but cooking a meal for a bunch of men and entertaining the way you do - wow forget it!! DH is lucky to get a homecooked meal at this point!
Spin and Jac - have your nights been any better?
I am SOOOO exhausted! Now that we put Ty down early he is just up constantly. I went to bed BEFORE 9 - he was up at 10, then at 12 and then at 2 am when I was able to stick the pacifier in, then 4 and then we finally got up at 6. I am just so fried and this is every night with him! Oh - and after 3 or 4 am he refuses to go back to sleep in his pak n play that is next to my bed so I end up bringing him in and of course don't sleep as well. I try to nap during the day but uck! So, I have decided to throw in the towel and in December I am officially "retiring." I feel guilty b/c I have the ideal work from home position but its just impossible to get anything done!
Jaymie - I'm trying to fit into the jeans I have from when I got pregnant. I had gained weight over the year beforehand and the dr. never told me to gain weight - also b/c I had a dual diagnosis so he told me gaining weight would not help my situation. The exercises are going well - I definitely don't do all of them every day but I DEFINITELY notice a difference!

Tras: personally I don't trust that doctors have any clue when it comes to HA and weight gain or what will or won't work for it.
Krissy: it's not uncommon to not gain or even lose in the first trimester, due to morning sickness, etc. But once you can eat, you defiitely want to prioritize putting on weight for the twins. I definitely recommend the book by Barbara Luke (that you've probably heard about here already). On the pack n play question, we kept the boys in a co-sleeper (about the size of a pnp) beside our bed for the first 4 months, and then it got too crowded, so now they sleep in cribs in their bedroom across the hall. We did buy/assemble the two cribs ahead of time, though, so that we could use them when we wanted and we did't have to worry about it (since they'd need them eventually)

bebe- yes she has 2 teeth on the bottom!! i was scared of choking too, especially since she never did purees! However i also read on baby center's website and also beech nut, to ease my mind, that the 'choking' that they do is kind of a reflex that babies do naturally when they have a new texture in their mouth other than milk or purees! it doesnt necessarily mean they are choking at all, its just something new that they arent used to! in fact at 11 months she still does that reflex sometimes when i give her something new (and she actually tries it), its normal! just make sure they're of proper age and the pieces are soft and small!
tras- wow im gald you notice a difference with the exercises, i suppose that means i should be more dedicated to doing them because i would like to see my seperation smaller too!! good for you for gaining weight b4hand even tho the doctors said it wouldnt make a difference! just give it some time, you'll be in your jeans soon:-) besides arent you the one with the AMAZING arms?! focus on the positive, you could take anyone down with those guns!
kat- so sorry about your dad, thats terrible! my dad has had kidney stones too, not fun! hopefully the urologist can help him! im sure jj will be feeling better once his teeth are through, but afterwards we always had to do CIO again with bella coz she got to use to having me 'help' her back to sleep after a sickness or teething! but it will go smoother coz he wont be in pain anymore!
krissy- so glad you are able to eat again, isnt it fun?? :-)
alp- bella went through that when she learned how to stand too. we kinda had to just let her do it til she sat down on her own and got tired! So i suppose it was a form of CIO!! but now when she wakes early in the morning or whatever shes usually standing so i go in, lay her down, and kiss her! now she stays down! its probably a phase because its something new shes learned, it'll pass! but i do think shes got your number and has no reason to stop because she likes that mommy is coming in :-) good luckLast edited by Jaymie; 08-25-2009 at 11:05 AM.

Kat -sorry about you father, thats just AWEFUL!
Also, sorry you ladies are having such a hard time with your LO's sleeping. My babies are still SO young and still sleeping A LOT! But Im having an issue with constant Grunting that leads to whining! It goes on all night and sometimes I swear they are sleeping when they do it.. It sounds like they are just SO uncomfortable, and nothing I do helps them? I didnt know if this was normal.. but its so loud that Im having a hard time sleeping at all! I feel tempted to shut their bedroom door so I don't hear it, but then I just cant do it! I have to be able to hear everything, as much as I dont want too!! what do you guys think? could it be they have too much gas or something???
