stef- i am SOOO excited for you!
cmr- i'll be thinking of you tomorrow. i totally remember the incredibly excited/terrified feeling!
klc- your girls are so precious!
deliah - Congrats on the birth of Delia!!!!
writer- wow! that is awesome that you gained 2 lbs last week. great job! it takes less calories to maintain than gain and even less to lose, so as long as you don't cut back too much you won't lose. does juice bother your ibs? i have been craving it, but not letting myself have too much because i don't need to gain more than normal. but a small glass of cranberry juice has about 170 cal, i think. so a big glass would be a good shot of calories right there... if that sounds good to you.
jaymie - wow!!! 4 days. that is so exciting! sorry about the flooded basement.

klc-your girls are really growing up!!
Stef-Congrats!!!! And you weren't even really trying!
Kathleen-DH did not start to really talk alot about baby stuff until recently, and I only have 1 month left!! So, don't worry, your DH will get there!
Dana-If an emergency C/s was needed and couldn't wait 20 or 30 minutes for the anestesiologist to fly in, a regular dr. would put my under. The OB nurse says that she has only known 2 instances where this has had to happen. Yes, I am planning a natural birth. Maybe the epi being 85 miles away will help me hold to that! The OB nurse is very supportive on natural births, so I think she will be really helpful throughout the process. If someone decides they want an epi then they need to know by 4 cm. By the time the anestisiologist gets there, you will be ready for the epidural.
Jaymie-They have emphasized several times that it is NOT a problem at all if you call the anistesiologist in and then end up not using them. They understand that the situation is hard. They are always trying to find an anistesiologist that would be based at the hospital, but it is difficult because it is such a small community.

Stef-I am so happy for you! That is amazing, you weren't even trying this month were you? I feel like all of the women I started the board with are pregnant now! I couldn't be happier for everyone!
Mama-I am due Oct. 4th. I can't believe it is almost here! When is your due date? You have been on such a journey, I hope you enjoy these next nine months and you have a great pregnancy! You deserve this so much! You are going to be such a great Mom!
We had our birthing class yesterday! Now I feel like I am ready to have the baby. She didn't teach much more than I already read in the books, but we got to tour the hospital and see the L&D and postpartum rooms. She also gave information about the peds in the area. I think the class was really good for DH. He now feels more comfortable about the whole process!
Has anyone read "The Happiest Baby on the Block?" Someone just recommended it to me and I wondered if anyone here found it helpful?

STEF!!!!!! I haven't checked in on the board all day, we were down at my sister's - what fantastic news to come back to
I know you guys weren't officially trying this month - but such a nice surprise. It really seems like this one is going to go well with how high your progesterone was at 7dpo.
Jaymie, for the C they'll put the catheter in after they've given you the spinal / epidural, so you really won't feel it at all. I actually had one when I was in the hospital for the mag sulfate when pg with Antony, and that one they just gave me a local anesthesia and even that I didn't feel so you really don't need to worry about it. As far as the bleeding you should definitely still expect to bleed, it will be heavy for the first few days and then slow down after that, but I think I was wearing light days pads until about 5 or 6 weeks post partum. They take the placenta out, but don't scrape out any of the rest of the uterine lining. I'm jealous that you only have four days left, you must be getting so excited!!!
writer, I'm glad you're feeling good about being naseous! I think the other ladies have given you some good suggestions for eating, hopefully you can cut down on the sweets a bit and find other ways to add fat. It sounds like with the IBS you can't manage too much dairy, but maybe switching to whole milk when you do use it? Also, cook everything with lots of olive oil? I know my mindset is always use a little oil as possible when cooking, but when you're trying to add calories that can be an easy way. Are you aiming for 35 lbs total gain? That would be just over a pound a week from here on out, so about 3500 extra calories - so if you can manage 500 every day, you should be good to go :-)
dana, I used to find that Ant would continue sucking even if he appeared to be sleeping, and if he wasn't I could encourage it by stroking him under his chin - have you tried that at all? Also, I would change his diaper between sides to wake him up for the second side, if you're alternating at each feeding.
klc, your girls are just so adorable! I know that things stink right now with their naps, but it really IS just a phase, and they will definitely get back to longer naps, and probably start falling into even more of a schedule in the not too distant future.
cycle, I'm glad that you didn't get hit too hard by the weather!
bella, I would absolutely recommend that book and I think a lot of the other moms on here would too. A couple of others to consider as well are Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Baby, and either Babywise or Baby Whisperer.
I had been feeling a little better about Ant with the new baby - since we put up the crib he's started calling that room the baby's "woom", and the other day he said, "baby come out of mommy's tummy soon. Baby sweep in cwib. Baby dump (jump) in cwib wif Antony!". I thought that was really sweet, and somewhat breathed a sigh of relief. BUT, yesterday we had some friends over with their 8-week old daughter, and I was holding her for a while, as Ant was eating. He could see me from the other room, and after a few minutes got really agitated, and started saying "get baby off mommy! Get Meghan off mommy!" I offered to have him sit on my lap as well as her, but that was not acceptable. Ugh!!!Last edited by BC-Nico; 09-14-2008 at 05:15 PM.

Bella- I just finished reading Happiest Baby on the Block today. While I can't say yet if it was helpful, it certainly sounds like it is and I have had tons of people recommend it. Hopefully it will help us especially when trying to calm two babies.

Bella-I am also reading the happiest baby on the block and I think klc and others on this board have also read it. It has some really good ideas, but like Jamie, I haven't had a chance to use them yet. I am hoping they work!!

Thanks for the book comments! I'll go out and get it tomorrow!
Nico-It was so cute Ant said the baby's "woom". I am sure there will be an adjustment period, but then he will get used to the baby being around. He will be a great big brother! When is your next drs. appointment? Maybe you will go sooner than you think?!
Jaymie-4 days left! That is so exciting! I wish I didn't have the anxiety of not knowing when the baby is coming! Even though I know that you didn't want a c-section, it must be nice to know that you will meet your little girl in 4 days!

Dehlia - congrats.. thanks for sharing . we would love to see some pics
STEF - CONGRATULATIONS!!! so so happy for u ......are u going for a beta tomorrow?
KLc - they are getting so big and adorable.. i bet u want to hug and kiss them all day
CMR - will be thinking of u tom.. im sure all will be ok.. sometimes symptoms dont show up till 8 - 9 weeks
Writer - i would recommend ensure.. it helped me gain fast! i craved meat the first time .. i never liked meat before and still couldnt fathom eating steak so had ham burgers thrice a week... im sure some junk food is not bad.. u do what u have to gain the lbs.. it is important.. bananas help in packing calories too
I started showing at eight weeks this time... i thnk last time it was closer to 4 mths
Kathleen000 - i got my epi at 3cm ..my doc said i could take it at any time.. you might want to ask your OB's opinion... maybe he will be willing to give it earlier too
Ginacap - where are u?
aya - how about some more belly pics
REsa - glad u are back....i missed u
Nico - im concerned too about how Z will react. He tolerates me petting and carrying our cat but doesnt like it at all if I give attn to any other kids at his school.. im curious to see A nt's reaction
hi to everyone else
