that is tough, Molly! Fortunately for me, Grace is the only one that likes to run or "test" me in other ways. Hannah is just such a good girl. She listens to me pretty much always. So, I've not had to worry too much about that. As far as the play structure, I really never ever saw myself being so laid back. I remember with my niece I was on her the whole time. I always assumed that I'd be that way with my own for sure. It happened kind of by accident that trying to follow 2, I just couldn't and I suddenly stepped back and realized, "hey, they can do this on their own". The thing is the park that we spent most of our time at was pretty empty during that iffy year when they were only 18ish months old. And, honestly during times that they would go in different directions, I relied a bit on others to help stop one while I ran after the other. But, like I said, it is most often Grace. Hannah is a dream child, really. She is "mama pleaser"

jaymie, you can get stomach supporters that I bet would help you! You just need some extra support there to help hold things together.

Hi girls! I have a diastasis question. I am now 25 weeks pregnant with my first, and have noticed that I have the "ridge" between my belly button and sternum when laying flat then sitting up (I knew I never had super strong abs). There is only about one finger width between the muscles, but wondered what to do about it, or what to make sure NOT to do while pregnant. I do not do any more crunches, on the ball or otherwise. Should ALL ab work be stopped, even things like planks? What about weights overhead? (shoulder presses)
thanks, and BTW my belly doesn't even seem that large yet, and tpo already have a separation kind of worries me..

nico- is it like a belt thing? ive seen those at motherhood! Thanks, i'll look into it!

Chrissy- i still do shoulder work and other things that work the abs without really trying to! I just read you should not do regular sit ups, planks, or anything with twists for the abs! Although none during pregnancy either way! if you google it you'll find lots of answers of exercises to do post pregnancy to lessen to gap!

Hi everyone! I feel like its been so long since I have posted - lots going on! This was an awful week which ended with us in the ER with Ty yesterday. He was in so much pain poor guy but thankfully everything seems to be okay now! He started having diarrhea on Saturday and he was staying with my parents starting on Sunday because I had to go into work on Monday. Anyway he was kind of fussy while he was there and he went to bed at his normal time Monday night. I got to my parents house right after he had gone to sleep Monday night. He NEVER sleeps late - 6:15 is the norm, sometimes earlier and occasionally later. Anyway - my mom woke him up at 8:50 am. He was extremely lethargic and fussy and not himself. I drove back to Palm Beach and he fell asleep in the car which a) he never does and b) he had only been up for like an hour and a half. So, I went straight to the ped. It was a dr. there we hadn't seen before and he looked in Ty's ear, said it looked a little red and prescribed an antibiotic. I was 99% sure it was not an ear infection but I'm not a dr. So, that afternoon the diarrhea got worse and he was extremely lethargic. That night he started throwing up. It was awful! So the after hours ped told us to hydrate him and give him the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Mind you he eats none of this stuff except apple puree. So anyway, he seemed to be getting better on Wed and better on Thurs, still lethargic and not himself though. He is usually racing all over the place, jumping on the couch, etc. and he wasn't doing that at all. So then yesterday when he was still kind of off and really fussy and seemed to be kind of crying out intermittently I went to see the ped. When we got there he started crying uncontrollably and seemed to be in a lot of pain - he was arching his back and throwing his head back and it wasn't like he was crying b/c he was afraid of the doctor or anything b/c he was doing it with just me in the room. So, I am hysterical b/c I don't know what is causing him to cry this way. 2 doctors take a look and tell me they are calling the ER and to go straight there. So, DH met me at the hospital and they did Xray, U/S, blood, urine and IV. They at first thought it was something called an intercessus (no clue how to spell!) which is kind of like a kink in the intestine (I think) causing awful pain. Anyway - the ER dr. sent us home after several hours b/c all of the tests looked normal (thankfully!) except that his stomach was (according to the ER dr.) very backed up with stool. The ER dr. wanted us to give him an enema and Miralax. So, DH went to CVS and the pharmacist remembered Ty from me picking up the antibiotic on Tuesday and was like - you can't give an enema to a child that young! Then DH called his associate's dad who is a ped and he also said not to give Ty the enema. So, needless to say - no enema! He woke up much better today and we saw the ped this morning who said his diet (which is awful b/c he is the world's pickiest eater and has a very small appetite) is probably causing some stomach issues. She recommended lots of fiber. She was also concerned b/c he weighs the same now as he did like 2 months ago. So anyway - we are back to lots of pediasure and smoothies (which we had limited b/c of the stomach virus) and prune juice and my great idea - Fiber One bars (the kid LOVES chocolate!).
I am so glad he is doing better - I just can't wait till he is 100%. He still isn't racing around like usual. But everyone really needs to be careful - obviously the ped isn't always right (btw - NO ear infection!) and the ER dr. was definitely off in recommending the enema. Sorry for the novel - rough week!
Also - one more thing I forgot to mention - we have an appt in November (1st they had available) at a place called Early Steps to have him evaluated. He isn't really speaking - at all - which concerns us. He understands stuff but I just don't know how much. He is definitely alert and likes to be read to, etc. but I just don't want him so behind in the speaking department at 17 months.

Nico - I am so glad Timmy is a-okay. That is such a scary experience to have!

Chrissy - I don't think that planks are a good idea. I did them throughout my pregnancy and have AWFUL diastasis. So bad that I went to see a plastic surgeon who then consulted with my ob-gyn and told me that surgery is really the only way to fix mine. Anyway - a core dr. that I went to see said the planks could have contributed to mine. Side planks should be fine though!

Jaymie - So sorry about your stomach pain! Hope you are feeling better!

Aya - How did the drive go? I can't believe you are finishing Insanity!! How is it??

Nico and Allison - thats funny about your DHs attitudes toward "feminine" interests. DH always says he would be fine if Ty was into girls or guys but is so not happy when I put my headband on his head and let him wear it!

Mama - It made me feel better that Charlie isn't speaking yet. Ty isn't really at all!

Spin - do you have any recipes that you have posted on your blog for the muffins you used to make the girls with leftover fruit/veggie purees you had? I know there was a bunch of stuff I wanted to post to you regarding your blog and totally forget! I have to go back and re-read to recall! Love the blog though!

Carol - how is Sara doing? Rash is totally gone?

Alp - so glad you are feeling better and all the tests look good!

Bebe - how are you doing and feeling? How is your mom doing?

Kat - helllooooo!! Everything okay? We miss you if you still check the posts!

Hi to everyone else - sorry for the novel!

Hey ladies. I haven't been on here in forever but just thought I should hop on here to update you all on my status, mainly just for our own research/success stories to share with others. As you all know I have a one and two year old from repronex cycles. Well, we always wanted three but didn't have finances for any more repronex/iui cycles, so....we thought we would just give clomid a chance, it hadn't ever worked in the past, but u guess the added weight since then helped, it worked, much to our amazement. Not only did it work but I am preggo with twins! I am scared to death and have been overwhelmed with the doom and gloom and high risks discussed in articles and books. I pray to keep them cooking as long as I can. But really I am also scared of having a 2.5yr old, 1.5yr old, and newborn twins come April. Just thought you all might want to add this to your many return of fertilitystories, and the joys and health of a little weight gain.

Resa! So good to hear from you! Congratulations!!! I'm not sure how much I gained each trimester but I gained about 40 lbs overall but lost a lot of muscle so I'm sure it was probably more than that. I was pretty nauseous the first trimester plus more and didn't have much of an appetite. I ended up being induced and they were born at 37w5d. They didn't want me to go past 38 weeks. Aiden was head down and Ella was breech but they told me at the beginning that if baby A was head down and they were about the same size that I could try for a vaginal birth and I did, successfully! They were 5 lbs 9 oz and 5 lbs 10 oz. They didn't have any NICU time and we all left the hospital together. I breastfed and pumped in addition to increase supply and when I went back to work part-time for 14 months. We started breastfeeding one at a time until they go the hang of it and then at about 6 weeks just started feeding them at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend the EZ-2 nurse twin nursing pillow if you are thinking of nursing them together. It's perfect for nursing 2 at the same time! I lost the weight pretty quickly but of course was still pretty "squishy" and still am. I didn't do much in the way of exercise until close to 6 months or later when my supply was really built up because I didn't want to risk it going down.

Tras- How scary. A and E having just started really talking more but understand a ton and they are 2! I know it's hard but try not to worry.

Chrissy- I'm a PT and we tell patients who are pregnant to avoid any twisting motions and coming straight up to sitting from your back. You should always roll onto your side and push up. If you are doing cruches you need to wrap a sheet around your wait and cross it in the front so you are bringing the abs together on either side of the diastasis. You don't want to do planks either. The best thing is to do transverse abdominis bracing (tightening your abs as you pull your belly button to your spine or flatten the small of your back against the floor) like they do in pilates. I did a lot of these and I didn't really have much of a diastasis and I had twins.

tras- Wow, what an ordeal! I'm so glad Ty is okay...bless his heart, and yours too. I found these chips at the store the other day- they're actual vegetables with oil and salt added but the texture and crunch is that of potato chips. I got carrots and green beans and the twins love them. They have a good amount of fiber. Keep us posted on Ty's speech eval! There is such a wide range of development for speech at that age but I know it's hard not to worry.

resa- OMG!!!! Congratulations on the twins! Mine are clomid babies too! I carried to 35 weeks 6 days- literally hours shy of 36 weeks which was my goal. Anyway, no bedrest and I even exercised the day I delivered. It was a vaginal delivery, I gained 37 pounds total but had already gained 15 to get pregnant. Hunter weighed 5 lb 8 oz and Mazey weighed 5 lb 5oz. You can look on fb and see how enormous I was, I think there's pictures from their delivery posted. Mazey came home with us but Hunter stayed in the NICU for 1 week due to swallowing fluid during delivery which settled into his lungs. It wasn't a big deal and I had a fairly good NICU experience. I breastfed for 15 months with a few supplemental formula bottles here and there. I've gotten most of the weight off and did so within 4 months. I still hang on to a stubborn 5 pounds but that's probably more a result of my 30's and also having no willpower anymore! I gained 10 lbs the first trimester and steadily gained throughout the pregnancy. Aiden was 2 yrs old at the time so when they were born, I had 3 kids, 3yrs and under. It was a tough first year... How many weeks are you? How are you feeling? One rec- get Dr. Luke's book on being pregnant with multiples. I read that book every day and followed it closely.
