jess, danaesb had almost exactly the same result for her 6w4d u/s, see my post to her on the vets board

jamie, I'd be pissed about the lying too, hopefully it was just a one-time thing and once she understands that you're more upset about the lying than deviating from your schedule she wont' do it again.
carol, I'm glad the mmr rxn wasn't too bad, neither of my boys had anything like that but it sounds like it's not uncommon.
bebe, jaymie, congrats on the girls :-) Jaymie, I totally get where you're coming from (although I always wanted two girls!), I'm pretty sure that had we had either two girls or a girl and a boy we wouldn't be having a third.
molly, I hear you on the stero tantrums, those are fairly frequent in my house too, especially when one decides he wants a toy the other is using. Both will hold on as tightly as they can and scream their heads off. fun stuff
So I've been reading pink brain blue brain, and it's given me some pretty good tips of things to work on with my boys to hopefully A) encourage their nurturing, emotional side, and B) work on fine motor skills instead of everything being gross motor. The latter seems to be a big reason that boys have more trouble in the early years of school, so hopefully we can avoid that, especially as Ant will be the youngest in his class so naturally have more trouble anyway. Nurture shock is next!Off bcp June '04, no AF, diagnosed with hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA). Four inject cycles May-Oct '05, BFN. Nico: both those books are on my list too! I'm glad to hear that the gender one is good. I've read some excerpts of nurture shock that are really thought provoking. Now I just need to carve out some time to actually read this stuff! What do they recommend for developing fine motor skills? I know coloring is good on that front (though my guys are still mainly crayon eaters more than artists ;-)

Brenda: I think some regular OBs want to wait until 8-10 weeks or so-- but then again they often don't want to see patients at 6 weeks because it's so early. So, I wouldn't count on it, but it can't hurt to ask. Good luck!

nic- do you think the book has some good tips for girl-raising, too?
jess- your u/s sounds right on target! yay!
brenda- oh, i missed your BFP i think. congrats! i think most OBs do not give an u.s at 6 wks. my first ob appt was so boring, no blood work, nothing but a general how to on pregnancy.

carol, I do think that it has some good suggestions for girl-raising too. One of the major ones is for parents of girls to really encourage their physicality and physical risk taking (within reason of course). That is something that parents of boys are much more likely to encourage and be okay with, e.g. climbing on things, whereas parents of girls tend to try and teach their girls to be much more cautious. Both genders can learn from the other!
molly, I think one thing that would be great for you guys to work on even this early is the nurturing aspect. My DH would never go for my boys having a doll (although I'm hoping that if I can convince him to read this that he might agree that it's not the worst thing in the world - he is homophobic in the sense that he really doesn't want HIS boys to be gay and is afraid, completely without logic to support him, that if they do things like play with dolls or carry my pocketbook around or wear pink or wear girls clothes or shoes that they might be, or might be perceived that way. Drives me up a WALL!) but having a doll and encouraging them to play with it in the way a girl would can help teach them about being kind and loving. The fine motor stuff, which is what I'm really going to try and work on with Antony, probably doesn't come until a bit later. Timmy's doing a bit of it, he really likes cutting things with scissors (we didn't let Ant have scissors until three...). I think encouraging drawing is a good thing to do, but yeah, you do have to be careful about the crayon eating
Other things are stringing beads (also not so good for the younger set - we used pasta yesterday though which is not as bad, although timmy wasn't interested), and dressing and undressing dolls.
We had a terrifying episode tonight. My MIL bought the boys a bag of life savers candy (I was less than thrilled about it, but I let them have some). Timmy's been enjoying them, and saying, "dat's my favowite candy!". Well, tonight he was sitting in his high chair having one, I was doing something else with Ant, when all of a sudden timmy gave this strangled cry, and I *knew* something was wrong. He was all red in the face, and then seemed to stop breathing. I grabbed him out of the high chair and turned him upside-down and started banging him on the back. He wasn't completely choking, as he was able to take a breath every now and again and was crying. He started gagging and throwing up a bit, then he'd cry, the life saver would get stuck again and he'd have a hard time breathing... eventually after a minute or two he threw up the lifesaver and then everything was fine. It was so so scary though. Needless to say, the life savers are in the trash. I was shaking from adrenaline for quite a long time afterwards, I am so so so so SO glad that he was okay.
brenda, I asked prior to my 6w apt with this past pg (my first not through an RE) if they would be doing an u/s, they said no so I moved it to 10w so that we'd hopefully be able to hear the h/b with the doppler. I'm pretty sure the norm is no u/s.
btw, jess, I forgot to say how glad I am that things looked good at your u/s!! - although you weren't seeing an re, were you? So your ob routinely does u/s at six weeks?Off bcp June '04, no AF, diagnosed with hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA). Four inject cycles May-Oct '05, BFN. jess- Your u/s sounds great. I had my first this time at 7w1d- was measuring 7w6d though and they've insisted on calculating my due date based on that despite the fact that I know when I o'ed. Anyhow the HR was 135 but I was at least a week ahead. I read that it should go up 4beats per day until 8-9 weeks, so I think you're actually perfect! By my 11 wk appt, the doppler HR was mid-160s.
bebe and jaymie- Congrats again on girls!!
carol- Glad the rxn didn't end up being too bad. You've had a stressful week!
Jamie- Did your nanny admit to the lying? So frustrating!! I hope things smooth over.
nic- Where are things now for your cycle?
I had my NT screen Monday and things looked good! Baby was moving all around- amazing how developed they get by 13 weeks! The NT measurement was good, should hear the blood results by the end of the week. I can't believe how much I'm showing this time, people are already asking me about it! Nausea is improving a bit but I'm still exhausted. Hoping the 2nd trimester energy kicks in soon

Carl - saw your post on mmr , my son got a reaction 2 weeks after the shot , I called the ped and they said it was too long for a reaction , turned out that he had strep throat.. it might be worth calling the ped..
jaymie - congrats on the girl
Nico - that is so so scary...I cant imagine what you went thur those couple of minutes....glad timmy is doing well.
Brenda - i was with the OB with both my kids and he typically does a u/s at 7+ weeks to see hb.. it might be worth asking http://www.fertilethoughts.com/forum...lies/smile.gif
