Kat - Have fun! My mood is not entirely scale related. The overnight trip to nana's for the girls is the biggest part
But, this weight thing is always going to be an issue. My BMI is 22, right now. I know that is still in the "healthy' weight range but it does not suit me. I have a really small frame. I still resolve to find a balance of not eating too much or too little along with a healthy amount of exercise and lose 10 pounds. I think 115 at 5'3" is totally reasonable.
As for sippy cups. At one year I was sure they'd never take to it. I just kept filling it with milk and giving it to them first thing in the morning. After an hour or 2 I would take it away and wash it out. Sometimes there was barely anything gone out of it. I did the same thing in the afternoon and evening, no matter what. I never made a big deal, just gave it to them and went about our day. Eventually, they drank more and more and it never was an issue. They'll take to, just keep offering.
BTW, I was happy to get my little boobs back! Although, I've put on a few pounds and they are definitely a bit bigger. I BF for 13 months and I think that they don't look too bad, considering
Jamie - We should pick a date for getting together soon! I'm pretty open the next few months
Tonight is dinner, then drinks with friends and then home to play some euchre with other friends... should be fun!

klc- ohhh! have fun tonight!!!! just for reference i'm 5'3.5" and was 116 at my lowest - that is pretty small! i'm small framed, well i am def small framed on top, but hippy and never have had small thighs... anyway, i seriously bet you look great right now to anyone else!!! right now i'm 126 and don't love how i look naked, but in clothes i am pretty darn happy. i get hung up more on my size and since i'm wearing a 4, that is totally acceptable to me.
i don't want to be at work at all today... just missing my girl like crazy! totally agree that they are growing up so fast right now. and it is so fun! sarah's taking steps, but not really walking. i know it is just around the corner and i don't want to miss it

ladies - i had a moment today thinking about all of you (as i struggled and limped through my run). i "talk" to you all and tell you all more than i tell most of my friends. i really feel *so* lucky to have found a group so supportive, helpful and non-judgemental. i can't imagine my life without all of you!!!
molly - mine were like yours at 9 mos. they would take the sippys, but didnt get the concept of raising them to get the water out. they will catch on, im sure of it. one day maddie just started throwing her head back and putting the sippy up in the air - it cracked me up! anyway, conor caught on too. we have the munchkin brand too and they seem to work well.
kat- how nice to have a night out in nyc! are you just doing dinner? thats one thing i really miss about ny - the restaurants! so many good ones to pick from! sorry about your muscle/joint problems. do they seem to come and go when you run? at least you are able to continue to increase your mileage. i went out for a run today and made it through about 7 miles, but it wasnt pretty or fast.
cycle - they will be one on feb 10th! crazy how time flies. yes, i do want another, but im not really in any hurry (and jon is not convinced
) how are all the kiddies today? oh, and i am definitely not going to stress about giving my kids bad food on occasion! i was eating some cake today while feeding them lunch and i gave them each a little taste
writer - i also look at carepages often. it always makes me cry to read about noah! last night i looked through some pics of him and it just made my heart break. he is such a strong little fighter (and so are you)!! so happy that you are putting on some weight! i live on nuts - lots of fat!
jac - which kind of sippy do you have?? nuby makes one that comes with two tops - one top is nipple shaped and the other is more like a sippy (they are interchangeable). you could try something like that...maybe it would help??

Hi all -
I need to catch up but wanted to post before Ty wakes up!
Its been an exhausting week here - Ty must be teething b/c he is getting up during the night every night and then up at around 5 am. I have been going to bed late for me (like 10:30) and have this work assignment hanging over my head - I am FRIED! I do make it sound worse than it is though - Ty takes really long naps and I have lots of time during the day but there is always laundry, wanting to work out, NEEDING to nap (which I RARELY do), etc. that gets in the way of actually sitting down to do research!
On the going out with the LOs discussion - now that Ty can crawl I only go to lunch with family. I will meet friends at lunch time but have to eat before b/c Ty will only stay in his highchair for so long and then wants out and wants to touch everything. Trying to eat is impossible and so not enjoyable! Yesterday I went to meet DH b/c he is in trial and wanted me to come see a little. By the time Ty woke up they were breaking for lunch so we walked to a restaurant near the courthouse with DH's partner and their clients (DH reps the plastic surgeon in a boob job case where the woman got a capsular contraction - I think thats the name). Anyway Ty wanted to just be out and about and it would have been a nightmare if I was trying to eat!
Much more to write but he just woke up.
Quickly - Bebe - I do live near Palm Beach and LOVE the Breakers - its beautiful! I have also heard great things about a new hotel called The Omphoy. Don't know if you know of the chef Michelle Bernstein but she just opened a new restaurant in there.
Also Jac - one of my best friends from law school switched to legal recruiting - she has been doing it for years and is very happy!

tras- sorry for your exhaustion! it sounds awful! bella is/was the same way with high chairs! she wants OUT very soon after we put her on so we try to hold her first while were chatting and ordering then put her in the highchair for as long as she can stand it once we get our food! it usually buys us some time so i can eat! But now that she is steady on her feet we always ask for a booth that is against the wall and she loves to stand on the inside and play with all the little sugar samples taking them in and out of the jar thingy they go in, it works!
KLC- i am 5'3 and 116 lbs right now but 106 or so was my lowest, so i do think it is all relative to body structure! but i will say i got to this weight by not doing anything at all, not really thinking about food much! i got sick and lost a few lbs and then started weaning from pumping a bit! it might happen when you least expect it if you can get to the right mindset! hows the exercising going? you were on a kick there for a bit werent you! i need to start on the cardio again as i wean more from pumping, uggh! oh and have fun tonight, dh and i luv a good game of euchre! us midwesterners!
jac- we introduced a straw cup around lylas age and eventually bella got the hang of it and loves it! our OT said using a straw cup actually encourages and helps with their speech, too!
bebe- isnt it funny how they come up with things, like the sippy throw back!! I eat this cereal that has small pieces and i always tip my head to get them in my mouth when i eat them dry, one day bella started 'throwing her head back' doing the same thing with my cereal, theyre soo funny arent they!
oh and an update, we went to the ped today and he told me Bella can survive on whole milk only so thats what we'll be switching to! yay for no more pumping...eventually! he said whole milk actually has the same calories as breastmilk, hm not sure how that works coz i think its diff from everyone's body! Mine is very yellow with a big ring on fat at the top if i let it sit out, and some people's has a blue tint to it, oh well!Last edited by Jaymie; 01-22-2010 at 02:40 PM.

Molly-I have the same probs with sippy cups. They are quite fascinated by them but not into actually drinking from them-they bite on them mostly.
KLC-a night out sounds awesome.
Kat-That's so great that you can work at home on Fridays.
Oh gosh. LIvy is crying. Gotta go. But quick update-went back to ped today. NO fevers (but they have only had lowgrade ones if any)-and poor K still wheezy but O is only a little wheezy but has a bad cough. But dr is really not concerned-very mild case. No ear infections but O has a little fluid in her ear. K seems to be a bit better to me but O is super fussy and not super into eating or sleeping right now. GTG .. more later.

Kat- I am so excited for you for your March vacation! I'm sure it will be absolutely wonderful!
carol- I went to Kiawah in college to visit my roommate's parents and it was great! I really like that area in general. How is daycare going these days? C is doing well in her new one! My new job is going well- totally different though. I was working in a practice with other NP's and doctors in internal medicine, now I'm working in a retail clinic in a drugstore by myself. It should be interesting and busy!!
Nico- glad you settled on TTC! We are waiting a few months because I need to be at my new job for a year- we had hoped for a 2.5 year split so that would work out perfectly (as if we can plan perfectly, lol).
jac- Good luck with the job decisions, I know its stressful but things have a way of working out for a reason.
cycle- how did things go today?
KLC- have a great time tonight!!
Listening to all your weight discussions makes me feel enormous! I guess I'm just tall but still, I'm so much heavier! I suppose I should try exercising or eating healthy before I start complaining!
kathleen- could they test R for varicella antibodies so you would have an answer? Sorry to hear about all the stress!
Jamie- are A and E feeling better now??
C did SO well this morning with the ear tubes. Actually she was crying so loudly in recovery that they sent us home after 30 min instead of the usual hour. She is very very very loud when she cries- louder than any other baby I've ever heard! I think she was disturbing everyone and they figured she was ok to cry so loud! Anyway, the rest of the day she was great- it was like nothing happened. I am really interested to see if her speech improves like everyone says it might, as she's already talking quite a bit.
have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi everyone -
Just came downstairs to catch up and write and DH has already come down to get me! Well, he can wait for a few minutes!
Bebe and Kat - when I am running for my workout (which I haven't done in a long time b/c I pretty much do the elliptical at home every day) the max I go is 6.5 miles. I am SO impressed by you guys!
Bebe - I know what you mean about thinking about everyone. Sometimes when I am walking Ty or something I think of things I want to write to tell everyone! I was going to quit January 1st but my job is really so easy and in this economy its kind of crazy to quit a part time job where you work from home and my boss goes out of her way to make things easier for me!
Kat - my pleasure! I love giving restaurant recommendations and there are A LOT of good ones on Palm Beach depending on what kind of food you like!
Alp - so glad the tubes went to well!
Writer - so good to hear from you!
Jaymie - such a good idea - I am going to try that! I have to keep a pacifier in Ty's mouth at all times - when I went to meet a friend last week at lunch time (I of course had already eaten!) he attempted to shove a Splenda packet in his mouth! Such good news on the whole milk - I only pump once a day and I HATE it!
Amy - glad the babies are getting better!
Klc - have fun tonight!
Carol - I have never been to Kiawah but I think I have heard good things about it! I have heard to do the same thing when your LO bites while BFing. Luckily Ty only has like half of a tooth but I am not looking forward to that!
I was a 34B/C before getting pregnant and went up to a D/DD. I have always been on the bigger side (my mom is a 32D and is only 5"3"). After BFing she said it she just had loose skin - she had a lift and was so happy. At some point I definitely think I will need to do something - I already have stretch marks all over them
On the weight topic...uggg...after some wine I can be honest, I truly just feel so...unhappy with my body. I didn't mention this b/c I don't even like to talk about it but last weekend I went to see my great aunt who lives in an assisted living facility about an hour from me. I was with my dad and Ty and my aunt had a helper when she lived in Virginia who now flies to Florida every month or so to be with my aunt. When I walked in the apartment with Ty, my aunt's helper asked if I was pregnant with another. Yeah...the rest of me is basically too skinny and then there is my stomach. I had an Ob appt last month and the dr. told me that there is pretty much nothing I can do - that no amount of diet, exercise or ab work will fix my stomach. That felt great! Okay - no more pity party! I am okay with it - just always anxious that someone will ask me if I am pregnant and it stinks to not want to wear anything that hugs my stomach! Okay - DH is calling - have a good night!!

Aaah - today he got up before 5 - it keeps getting earlier and earlier! I refuse to get him out then but I feel so bad when I hear him crying!
Quick question - I need a lightweight stroller for my car - I was going to use my bob as an everyday stroller but its too big and the snap n' go is such a pain and ty definitely does not want to be stuck in his car seat. Any good suggestions for something I can leave in the car and use for the mall, appointments, restaurants, etc.? Thanks!
