Klinefelter's syndrome is found in approximately 1 of 700 men. Men usually have one X and one Y chromosome, i.e. the chromosome constitution 46,XY. Men with Klinefelter's syndrome have more than one X chromosome, usually two X chromosomes, i.e. the chromosome constitution 47,XXY. Men with Klinefelter's syndrome are as a rule infertile.

Klinefelter Syndrome

kyleighp

Fertility issues can lead to men being DXed with Klinefelter Syndrome. In my case, had my now ex-wife and I wanted children and nothing was happening, the chances of me being DXed would have been quite slim. Most now go by their genetic signature instead of calling it Klinefelter Syndrome.

The only sure way to DX for Klinefelter Syndrome is for your husband to have what is called a Karyotype, which is a blood test done to determine his chromosomes. There are various genetic signatures that fall into Klinefelter Syndrome and some are what is called mosaic meaning that they have both 46XY chromosomes and 47XXY chromosomes or someother variation with 46XY. Some males have 47XYY chromosomes.

Until your husband has a Karyotype, he should refrain from using supplemental testosterone because that could stop any sperm production. Even though his SA shows no sperm, that doesn't mean that he does not produce any sperm. He may still produce a few sperm, and that may be determined by a testicular biopsy. In my case, the testicular biopsy is what prompted my urologist to set up an appointment to have a chromosome test performed. My testicles have the cells to produce sperm tails, but lack the cells to produce sperm tails. With today's technology, I may have been able to father our children. Age wise, I am beyond wanting to father childern.

Some Klinefelter Syndrome males have fathered children without any help from the medical community. Some Klinefelter Syndrome males produce enough sperm to impregnate their wife, even though it is a very small amount.

Hope this information will help you some. Please feel free to ask any and all questions as I am here to help you.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Ivan
