Is there any point? Can it really help save the baby?

I am! I have a history of IC and PTL (delivered DD at 23w5d - she just turned three). My OB is very conservative and says we just can't be too careful this time around. My Peri (not my favorite) quotes stats about how bedrest has not been proven to do anything "but cause blood clots." So he obviously does not think preventative bedrest does much.
Anyway, I started partial bedrest about the time that I had my cerclage placed (two weeks ago). Over the weekend I had (TMI) weird discharge and pressure. I spent two days in antepartum with contractions and taking turbutaline. They switched me to Procardia and let me come home on complete bedrest. Fun fun fun!

I had some spotting in my 9th week, and was ordered on bed rest until week 12 to allow my cervix to close completely. I did and now I'm at over 20 weeks pg. I do believe the bed rest helped.
Hope your doing okay.

I spotted regularly during my first trimester. My doctor recommended resting, but I took it very seriously and RAN to bed each time (for hours or overnight at most, though). That and drinking a lot of water I think really helped me get to my second trimester.
I was bedrested under nursing care for almost two weeks with my last pregnancy and clotting was never cause for concern.

I was put on 72 hours of strict bed rest after developing a subchorionic hemorrhage that caused a lot of bright red bleeding, but my cervix was closed.
Honestly, whether bed rest will help or not depends on your issue; with a subchorionic hemorrhage, you will either suffer a miscarriage or not and bed rest has not been proven to be of any actual benefit. However, my doctor felt it would be better for me to take it easy and avoid activities in the hope that it would help my hemorrhage heal; my hemorrhage did stop bleeding on about the second day of bed rest and recent ultrasounds have shown it is much smaller than it was at first, but there's no way to tell if the bed rest actually helped or not, but I tend to believe it did and it certainly didn't hurt.

Dreaming,
good luck with everything! If nothing else, at least you are already in the hospital where you can receive immediate help if you or your babies needs it. I'll be hoping for the best for all of you!
