Well, I wasn't sure a while ago if I was going to be able to write this post as the Magical 30 week mark seemed so far away! I am sooooooooo happy to report that Maggie is now 30 weeks and seems to be holding up great! Our little miracles are growing just fine (29 week 4 day measurements were 3.4 lbs and 3.2 lbs) and Maggie's cervix, which we were the most concerned about is actually holding it's own. She did measure 1.5 cm at our last appt but our Peri says that that was to be the last cervix check she needs as Maggie is far enough along that whatever her cervix does from here on won't matter. We are now on every second week appts and only growth U/S. Are any of you other wonderful women who are further along getting cervix checks? Just wondering as every doctor is different in what protocol he/she follows. Maggie is feeling alot of pain "down there" and can barely walk when she has to get up to go to the bathroom. She describes the pain as a shooting pain and that it feels like her cerclage is opening? (obviously, it's not though) Again, any other women getting the same feelings? Can you walk OK? I guess with Maggie being on bedrest and the increased weight of the babies, her legs don't want to work as well as they used to. We are now just focused on getting as far along as we can to give the babies as much time to develop before they make their appearance.
I'll keep posting to let you know how she's doing and hopefully soon one of the posts will read that our longed for babies have arrived safely.
Thanks to everyone for allowing me to open up my thoughts and for giving great and sound advice whenever I asked for it.

Mark,
You obviously can't see it, but I have a big smile on my face for you and Maggie! I still remember reading your first post and just hoping that you guys would make it for the duration. And here you are!
Even without a cerclage and bedrest, I was starting to feel a lot of pressure with my twins at 30 weeks and it was getting harder to move around. To compound things, Maggie's hip joints are getting looser too, so her balance is off and she's not as stable as she was before pregnancy. So she should just take it easy when going from point A to point B. No aerobics classes for her!
Anyway, as always, glad to see your update.

Oh and my Peri just said to me today that he stops checking the cervix with triplets at 28w so I am sure 30w for twins is normal.[I]OMG there are three of them and they ALL dont listen!!!

YAY!!!!!!! It is so good to read every post from you that says things are still going well. You guys are at a great week! 30 weeks is an awesome milestone. I will be there on Monday!
Things are all downhill from here so to speak. As hard as it is and even though you want to keep those babys in there as long as possible TRY to enjoy this time because it will be over before you know it. I am just so happy that she has gotten this far.. Before you know it you will be in awe holding your two lil babies.. I am SO happy for you both! I can imagine the pain and discomfort she is in.. I am feeling achey and have pains alot and I only have ONE. Oh, and about the shooting pain. I have that ALOT and i dont even have a cerclage.
WOOHOO... I will be looking for you next update!!!

Congratulations to both of you. You have done a great job keeping those babes where they belong. I never made it to 30 weeks so I don't have much experience with that but I do know that bedrest made my legs "forget" how to move. I basically had to learn to walk again after I had my girls. (I wasn't able to get up to use the potty, I had the nice catheter!!) Please tell Maggie what a champ she is and I hope you both will be soon reaping the rewards of your difficult journey! Stay strong!

Mark,
I just responded to your PM, and I have to correct myself-I don't know why i thought maggie was 28+ weeks--I'm even more thrilled that she's 30 weeks!
My peri wanted to stop cervix checks at 30 weeks, but my OB asked for them to go to 32 weeks, so my last check was last Monday. She (my OB) wanted a baseline to go by from here on out. She doesn't plan to do manuals until later, after my cerclage comes out (
if i make it that far-3 more weeks and 2 days)
As for the pain "down there", I get that, too. My doc said it could be pressure on the cerclage, but it also could be nerves (the real kind, not the anxiety "kind")--it's like stabbing pains. My doc wasn't too concerned, so I try not to freak out when it hapens.
And, while I'm not carrying as much baby weight as Maggie, I find my legs have weakened a lot and it hurts to put weight on them when I get up to use the bathroom. I think this is a side effect of bedrest more than pg.
But, again, I'm glad you're at 30 weeks! I'm hoping for several more for you.April
