I have been on progesterone and indocin for quite some time now (since week 22). My OB and peri have told me that as the pg progresses, I will experience BH, even though I'm on these meds.
For 7 weeks, I didn't have any contractions-but in the last week, I've started to feel some--but no more than 4 a day (and never all in an hour). I know this isn't a lot, but it still freaks me out bcs I'm already on very strict bedrest, taking meds and keeping well hydrated.
I am wondering when BH normally start (for a second pg) and what's "normal" for 30 weeks?
sigh...I need to find a way to escape my own brain![]()

April,
I wish I had a good response for you. Obviously BH contractions are normal in most pg's but the majority of us here at this bb have never had a normal pg. It definitely sounds like what you are feeling is normal and nothing to worry about.
I would, however, keep an eye on them and call if you have any doubts or concerns. It is soooooo great to see you and the words 30wks pregnant!
Edited to add: are you going off the Indocin in two weeks?
Many hugs,:candy: :cap:

Jillie,
Thanks for the reply and for helping feel normal. I swear, there was a time when I was normal! This may sound strange, but I miss me...
Anyway, yes--I will be stopping indocin at 32 weeks (unless, of course, i have fluid or ductus issues beforehand) My peri and OB are talking this week about what to do from there--most likely I will start Procardia at that point-but I'll know more at my next appt. I'm also still on suppl. progesterone--which i believe i'll stop at 36 weeks. My docs have a "long term" plan laid out, which we're going to fully discuss next week.
Again, thanks for all the support!April

April, actually that sounds pretty normal to me, too! You are still normal, just a different normal than you were before!Originally posted by momto3angels

The one other thing that I thought of last night was that in both of my pg's, my ptl felt differently. In pg #1, it felt like the overall belly hardening that you read about. In pg #2, it was more like hardening in specific areas and my stomach would become lopsided. I also had a horrible periodic pain in my upper back (just below the scapula) and later learned that that was also labor. Just keep an eye out for anything that is painful or unusual feeling.
You're doing great!:candy: :cap:

April:
I don't know if this helps any, but I began having BHs during weeks 28-29 with my pg with Jay (a 1st pg). I remember thinking that I wouldn't have even noticed them had I not been 'looking' for them. They were painless and a fairly quick tightening. They were never regular, and I would have them walking around or just lying around.
Congratulations on week 30, BTW! You are going into the home stretch!

Hi April,
I am currently 24 weeks pregnant, and have been having Braxton-Hicks contractions in the last 3 weeks. When I have them, my whole belly tightens up for maybe 30 seconds. I usually seem to have to contractions in a row, then none for a few days. I remember having them pretty often with my last pregnancy 2 yrs ago. My first pregnancy was 22 yrs ago, and I really don't remember having them at all back then.
Hugs Patty

WOW April, 30 Weeks!!!!
Hi April, just wanted to say how happy Maggie and I are to see your at 30 weeks!!! What a milestone!! We're only 2 short weeks behind and are very excited to welcome our 2 little girls as I'm sure you are too with your bundle!! Maggie gets BH too sometimes, it seems to be only when she's lying in certain positions (on her back is the worst). I know, your not supposed to lie on your back, but Maggie props a pillow under one hip just to relieve the pressure off of her hips ofr a little bit. Only 4 BH a day does not seem too alarming, I would not worry too much but of course you should discuss it with your Doctor/Peri.
Keep up the amazing job and we'll keep you in our thoughts as I'm sure Maggie is in yours as well.
