Hi all, I wish I was posting here with some better news but it seems that Maggie and I can't go a week without some sort minor crisis happening. Well, we went for our weekly appt on Friday and everything looked good. Tha babies are growing at a very good rate (one was 2.4 lbs and the other was 2.2 lbs). Maggie's cervix while still holding up okay, is shrinking a little with her measuring in at 2.2 cm. The problem occured this morning (Sunday). Maggie only takes showers 3 times a week to avoid being on her feet and this morning after her shower she sat on the toilet to pee and when she wiped, she was spotting RED a little. Is this normal? I called our peri's office and got re-directed to the doctor on-call who told her to monitor the spotting and if it gets heavier then to come down to the hospital to see him. He did not seem too concerned with the spotting but did say that if she had bleeding and cramping (which she doesn't right now) then they may have to cut the stitch? Can't they give her something to control the contractions? It just so happens that our Peri is away for this coming week so we are stuck with one of the other doctors on his floor if we want to see someone. I don't know what to do? Has anyone else spotted this far along? Maggie got up to pee about 45 mins after her spotting and when she wiped then, there was nothing? Does this mean that it has gone away? I am very confused and don't know if we should be concerned or not. I know that spotting occurs quite often during pregnancy but Maggie has NOT HAD ANY AT ALL until today. Please any words from all you wonderful ladies would really help.
Thanks

Hi Mark!
I have been following your pregnancy and I 'm so glad she has made it this far. I was already in the hosp on mag sulfate at this point. My gut tells me that you should go get her checked. I think that having peace of mind outweighs the risk of her getting up to go to the hosp. I think it is true that spotting in mult preg is normal. I was having blood/discharge in the hosp but they were telling me it was because I was already dilated. I'm not trying to freak you both out, just telling my situation. I did not have a cerclage, so you have that advantage. I do feel good about their estimated weights. My girls were 2.3lbs and 2.5lbs at birth, again just relating it to my personal experience. I know you need to keep them in as long as possible and you've come so far already. My dr was away during my ordeal and I do feel it hindered my treatment. You need to be sure this oncall dr is very, very aware of your high risk situation. Don't assume. I did and I got a little underestimated until I was txfrd to Univ of MD where I was treated as emergency. My advice is better safe then sorry. I delivered my girls at 27 wks 3 days and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, just little! We were very fortunate. I will be praying for you, Maggie and the babies!!

Hello Mark.
I have been looking for an update from you. I have heard of spotting this late, especially with twins or more. I would however go and get it checked. I would not care if anyone told me to wait and see. I would just take my butt up to labor and delivery and tell them she NEEDS to be seen. Lie if you have too. Tell them she IS aching or cramping some. I dont think it is anything to worry about BUT i am NO doctor and as neurotic as I am I freak about everything. I am so close to Maggie in my pregnancy. I am 27 weeks. I am also living this pg milestone by milestone with all we have went through to concieve in our lifetime. The good news is that we are both at a WONDERFUL milestone. IF the babies were born at this point they would definatly have a chance at survival. And just think, 28 weeks is even a bigger accomplishment as far as milestones go. That being said it is important for her to keep them lil ones in there as long as possible. WHich you of course already know. So I would pack her up and take her in to be checked! Better safe then sorry, and you will feel much better with peace of mind!
HUGE hugs and let us know what is going on.

I don't have anything to add here, just letting you know I am thinking of both of you and hoping your little ones keep just hanging out and growing inside mom.

Ditto to April's post: hope you're all well and that Maggie's receiving care.
I spotted at 29 wks and all was fine, (physically) but mentally I was fried. They did thoroughly check the cerclage and checked for bleeding from other places.

I have nothing to add, either. I was just checking on you. You are doing great and to get to 27 weeks during a difficult pregnancy is awesome. I'll be praying that all is well and those babies hang in there a bit longer!
