Does anyone know if it means egg quality was good if the embryos looked great at day 3? Can it still be an egg quality issue after day 3? Just wondering what the chances are that my embryos are still dividing in there...Day one of the 2ww and I am already torturing myself.

Jamie - I'm so sorry you are going through this I'm not familiar with the shot you took, so not sure if it worked or not. Did they say there was a chance it may not work? For one of my m/c's I did a vaginal suppository which I had trouble inserting. They told me it may not work and it turned out it did not work for me, but I think it was becuase I couldn't insert it correctly. I'm sorry you have to wait until monday to find out if its working or not, any way they could take you tomorrow?
Your dr's are right, the good news is that you can get preg! Your E2 looked great which is good, and you got 5 eggs! I know you feel so discouraged right now but there are many of us who have had m/c's and have gone on to have success. take good care of yourself during this time and keep your chin up if you can.

Amber - what other side effects did you have on DHEA? What dose were you on before you stopped? I'm about to start taking it (starting on saturday, 75mg/day) and I'm a little nervous about side effects. I'll also be taking clomid at the same time, so I guess I won't know if the side effects are from clomid or DHEA at first.

jshoe- I took DHEA for a few months before this cycle, but stopped right before since my RE said not to take it. He said it will lower FSH, but not increase pregnancy rate. I have no idea whether or not he is right. There is a ton of information that supports taking it. While on it I notice that my face and back would breakout pretty bad and I had more hair coming out in the shower. I actually went from 75mg a day to 50 and that seemed to alleviate some of the symptoms. Good luck!

Oocyte morphology correlates with embryo quali... [Fertil Steril. 1999] - PubMed - NCBI which concludes "oocyte morphology correlates well with embryo quality and pregnancy rates after ISCI." i didn't read the full article.

couldn't find much else, but i'm choosing to believe (since no one seems to agree) that DOR means low quantity of eggs, but that the quality can still be fine (more related to age). which means the odds are lower, but they are there.

i also had beautiful embryos this cycle...

Jamie: I am so sorry for your loss, i know i will b saying the same thing as amber and other girls would say.. but i really feel exactly what you are going through.. going through 3 of my own was the hardest thing ever. take your time to grief! cry when u need to and talk about it if you feel like it.. this forum helped me a lot during my loss.. One thing i also agree with your docs but mine said the same thing to me at least we know that you are fertile so you wont have problem getting preg. again..lots of hug

gray: i feel the same, my test is on 14dpo (11dpt-3dt) early morning so i am hoping and praying it will be a good beta.

Beth: did Dr. check told u the grade of your Embryos? however, good quality is suppose b either grade 1 or 2 i believe but my dr do specify the grade when he shows the embryos and how many cell and if there is any fragmentation. however, i have read so many times even poor or med embryos make it and will end up a healthy baby.. so o think, u had a good embryos, and hopefully u had a good lining for the em-babies to attach and the rest we leave it to luck and god. good luck

jshoe: i have been taking DHEA for a while and never had any side affect but i did start slow though 25mg for couple of days then added extra pill and finally added the 3rd 25 mg
i remember first cycle i noticed it lighter than usual but doc said it is just coincidence . this cycle however i decided not to take it bc i added inositol and melatonin and i was scared to take so much supplements. good luck, it is nice to hear from you again it is been a while that i have not seen u here..

Amber: did u feel any different with your success cycle? did u have any twigs, cramps signs ? how long did you take bed rest or when did u start doing your normal stuff...

AFM: yesterday i had a lot of back pain cramps like then today little better just light off and on.. 5 more days for testing..

Thanks Beth! My RE recommended that i try it, so I'll try it and see how I feel. Nothing like acne and hair loss to motivate me to take it 3x per day! I just saw your last post, I'm so glad your embryos looked so good! I think good quality on day 3 is great, and although nothing is ever guaranteed, it must help!

Hi hhzz! It's good to "see" you again too! we just started trying again, and as much as I don't want to go through the rollercoaster again I figured we'd never know if it could work again unless we try! Thanks for the tip on starting DHEA slowly, maybe I'll start with 25 and go up from there. You only have 5 days left, wow. I know it feels like such a long time but it will be here before you know it. My fingers are crossed that all these symptoms you are having are because of a BFP! It's exciting that you, Beth and Gray are all in a similar spot right now, I hope there will be a flood of BFP's in the next couple of weeks!!

    Thanks ladies,

They did not give me a score, but from what I saw there was no fragmentation(or at least I couldn't see any) and the cells were pretty even. We had one 6 cell and one 8 cell. I honestly didn't ask for a grade. The embryologist brought in the picture and I said they look great and she said yes they do. That was it for quality discussion.

I just worry since the one we had in November was "perfect" and didn't stick, so now I worry about whether the quality changes after day 3 or if it was just that I wasn't part of that lucky 40-50%. I am really hoping that having 2 greatly increases my chances, but I really don't want to get my hopes up too high.

Jamie - DO you mean royal jelly. I didn't add this but its actually a bee product, like honey. I did take it for a little while as well, in general I think it is supposed to cure just about everything (if you believe the hoopla about it).

beth - I think that having good quality embryos on day 3 is a good sign that your quality is fine. I was told I had quality issues after my second IVF when none of my embryos made it to day 3. My best quality embryos (prior to this last IVF, after taking supplements) were with my first IVF and they were B quality (my RE graded A, B, C and D) and 6 cells (8 cells are really the gold standard for day 3). So the following IVFs were even lower.

jshoe - With the DHEA I think I started at 75 but went down to 25 a day, but I was still getting the bad cramps, I also had worse (but not terrible) acne. Clomid I think just made my cycle longer and my cervical mucus drier.

grey - In general I agree that high FSH is more of an indicator of qantity not quality, but I have seen plenty of women here that it was both, and for me at least with the first couple rounds of IVF I had decent quantity (my 4th round I got 13 eggs), but my quality was always terrible.

hhzz - I didn't have any signs that were different. I didn't do any official bed rest, the day of transfer I did lie around the house, but I am sure I made dinner. My transfer was on a saturday, so I am sure I didn't do anything to stressful the next day, but I was up and about, and then back to work on Monday.
