Green- Yay for a clear baseline!! I am sorry about the insurance information. I don't understand why insurance companies have to make things so complicated. I am very lucky that my insurance will cover "some" of the cost of a DE cycle, but only my meds, the monitoring and the ER and ET for the donor but NOT her meds. I also asked the same questions about all the meds I already have and why I can't just give them to her and he said it was actually illegal! He said I might be able to work with the agency, but it can't be done through him. Ridiculous! I also agree you deserve an honorary degree for being able to deal with your clinic and their incompetence! I am also curious as to why you have to do a mock cycle.

Fer- My RE offered to do a IUI cycle, but I was not able to convince him to do an IVF cycle, he would only agree to an IUI, so we are going ahead with that. He said based off of my past cycle responses and b/w and last u/s that an IVF cycle wouldn't give us any advantage over an IUI so why go through the ER and ET and all that if it isn't going to help me any. I don't know if I really agree, but at this point I am just tired of arguing and I'll take what I can get. This will be my last try with my OE and afterwards I will feel 100% confident I tried my best with my OE and I will be ready to move on to DE with no regrets.

Regan - Wow it sounds like you have a lot to deal with right now! Congrats on being PUPO and I hope your embaby is settling in nicely! It is a kind of tradition on this board to give your embie a name if you want to Hope the 2ww flies by for you and you have no more water coming in your house!

TNA – Hello! I am just curious as to what the BB rules are regarding mention of DE? Does the post have to be labeled when we discuss DE? I know there is a BB on here just for Donor Sperm/Egg issues, but I didn’t know how much we could discuss it on here just in the context of what our plans are for treatment. Thanks!

KNot - Ah, ok...I thought you ended up convincing him to do an IVF. I think I remember you telling us that your DH's swimmers were in pretty good shape, so it would be great if this IUI ends up working! We need more IUI success stories here, too!

Fer/Knot - a mock cycle is mandatory for a DE cycle (at least as far as CNY goes). Basically, the reason you do it is, instead of relying on your own hormones to generate your lining, you take estrace instead to do that so they can control everything. They need to make sure you build a lining of at least 7mm via the estrace. Occasionally, while a woman may be able to build a perfect lining with their own hormones at work, they might not be able to do it so well w/ estrace. If they find you can't hit 7mm, I think they up the dose of estrace, or add patches to the protocol and see if that works. Basically, it's just an insurance policy that they can shut your hormones down, have their way with your system artificially, and create an acceptable condition to achieve pregnancy.

GMG - So the mock cycle is just to make sure the estrace plumps up your lining enough...yet they won't do the actual transfer until a subsequent cycle? And if you're taking estrace, there's a possibility that your lining might not be as thick as it can get w/out the estrace? But if that was the case, then wouldn't they decrease the estrace? Sorry for the detailed questions...I'm just trying to learn for my own edification so I know what to expect.

TNA - Thanks for the clarification on this discussion!

Knot, that is so funny that you said this! My partner and I were trying to not use the "it" word, or "he/she" so we are working on a nickname. So far, it's "Engelbert" as in humperdink, we both loved the princess bride movie, and it fit. "Ozbert" was something else said, I heard someone use "Nemo" and I think that's great and less funny! We both have "different" senses of humor.
I was going to go out and get some more fruit/veggies and bottled water, but I just saw that Wal-Mart is under water. Still a state of emergency, so no traveling. I do have some unfamiliar cramps, so I'm taking that as a good sign. So grateful to have internet and power, and dryness, 10,000 people evacuated and a lot in my little town.
My middle name is Lee, and that was the name of this tropical storm, so I can't help but be superstitious. Trying not to take every action I see as a good or bad sign, I am usually this superstitious! I even stressed over what to wear to the doctor, are these my "lucky panties", did I wear this shirt last time it was unsuccessful, oh boy, do I need to go relax! Those of you whom did acupuncture and message are smart! I guess it's not too late, I just can't get to the clinic!
Take care, and lots of happy thoughts to all those TTC!

mom2 - I got my BFP the day after Irene passed through VT where we have a vacation house that we were staying at, so maybe tropical storms/hurricanes are good luck.

As for the DE talk, I am all for it, I think it is important everyone here to see how everyones journey is different.

AFM - Beta #2 is in at its 1844 so just a hair over double, but that is all that I need.

Knot- Thank you for the warm welcome back. I think it’s great that you have a back-up plan. I interviewed a couple DE agencies, looked at profiles and pricing because I also wanted to have a back-up plan if this cycle doesn’t work. I’m also curious to hear how you respond to the EPP.

Amber- That is wonderful that you got a BFP from your one embie, and on your 5th cycle. I love to hear success stories like yours. Congrats!

    Regan- Congrats on being PUPO.

GrtMtn- I’m sorry to hear about the extra expenses with the DE cycle. That doesn’t make sense about the meds. As for OE vs DE, I think many of us on this board understand wanting to have a baby even if we all have different paths and outcomes. I am out of pocket, so there is a limit to how much I can cycle with my OE (and I’ve just about reached that limit). Also, cycling is emotionally exhausting and there comes a time when we want to be in the success category whether it’s via egg donation, adoption, or other options. I wish you lots of luck!

Fer- Yes, Parents via Egg Donation is a wonderful resource. When I started to look into the DE option I called Oregon Reproductive’s egg donation program and began to ask them a lot of questions. I was really scared about the process. They directed me to PVED. I called PVED and spoke with Marna, the founder and director. She answered all of my questions, talked to me about her successful experience with egg donation, and even invited me to a potluck in Los Angeles so I could meet other women. I didn't go to the potluck because I had decided to try another cycle or two with my OE before proceeding with DE. Their website is also great.

    Hello to everyone else.

AFM: I’m just plugging along with my BCP, counting down the days until I start cycling. I’m really glad I switched REs because I’m doing an antagonist protocol this time. My former RE refused to let me do anything except long lupron, which was not helping me at all.

green- Oh! the mock cycle totally makes sense I wonder why more places don't use it!

Fer- Yes DH has great swimmers (he is so proud of this fact) so I would LOVE to be an IUI success story on here!

Regan- Lol I love the Princess Bride too! What a perfect name! I hear you on the superstitons! I always feel like every little thing I see is some kind of sign I need to interpret and I hear you on the cloths too! I never wear the cloths I wore when I got a BFN on a beta! We are so messed up us IF girls!

tna- Thank you for the DE clarification!

Amber - What an awesome beta!!! Congrats on the doubling. I bet you can breath a little easier now I am so happy for you!!!

Jillybean- I always hate the waiting part! Hope the countdown goes fast and the antagonist does the trick! I can't belive RE's who are not willing to try new things! Glad you switched!
