Thats great 2 good embies, it is nerve wrecking. I wish you the best of luck. Well i have had 4 failed uvf's with him. Last one in august. He does not know whats going on. We have a few other consultations scheduled to see if a new set of eyes are what we need. We are still bascially in limbo. All my tests come back normal. Dh has scsa test and is was good. I dont know what else we can do.

Is there any other tests you guys hubbies did besides scsa, semen anaylsis.

    update Check

Kayci, fingers crossed for you; that's great news. As for me, I never got follies to grow to get as far as an IVF. I just turned 41 and have to move on. We are planning an egg donor cycle with in the month. It was a big step and not without regrets, but wasn't happening otherwise.-cherbil

Cherbil- believe me, we were one cycle away from going to donor egg ourselves. I'm convinced that once you have that beautiful child in your arms it won't matter at all. Best of luck with you DE cycle, I'll be sending lots of sticky vibes. Disneygrl, I'm so sorry to hear about all the failed IVF's... It took us a while to get to the point where we thought we needed IVF, and then we had a failed IVF too, in August. This last cycle was the first time we ever got to transfer. I don't know all the tests they did, but my DH has always been fine, so we never focused on that. My problem was always a blocked tube and very high fsh- the highest was 61. I hope you find answers and a way to make it happen soon, I'm so sorry Dr. Check's office hasn't been able to help you.
As an aside, I wanted to let you both know I'm going to post a new topic on the high fsh board. I did something this month called reconnective healing, I know it sounds crazy, but I really think it helped. Look for the post if it's something that might interest you. Baby dust to both of you... xoxo

    good morning all~
i have my first appt with Dr. Check mid-February and was wondering what I could expect at my appt? We live in VA so it's like a 4 hour drive for us and a BIG step in our journey for a baby. My FSH levels have been consistent in the 80's range - is there any hope for me here?

I know Dr. Check has 2 offices, and they are both about the same distance away from us. Is one office better than the other in some way? (ie, nursing staff)

Any information you can provide would be helpful. Glad he is able to help all of you on your journey as well.
    Me: 28 & DH: 26 <married 4+ yrs>
~11/09: No AF after BCPs (taken for 4.5 years) discontinued *
    ~4/10: Diagnosed with POF.. FSH = 85, AMH = less than 0.1
    ~4/10: Started TCM
~11/11: FSH = 82, AMH = less than 0.1, all other levels are normal & perfect uterus

*12/11: starting a "fertility fund" - hard decision made with DH = pursuing DE spring of 2013 if nothing else happens*

Hi, DNa1027- I hope your first appointment with Dr. Check goes well. Obviously, every case is different... But my highest fsh was 61 and when the nurse was talking to me at my first appt., I told her my fsh and she shrugged and said " you'll be fine." for what that's worth. Fsh does not frighten them there, they know how to work with it. I just had my first successful IVF cycle (first time I made it to transfer) and my fsh was 21 on day 3- most drs. Would have cancelled the cycle!
As regards the office, we've always gone to the Marlton office, I think that's the bigger of the 2...
By the way, Dr. Check is a little... Eccentric. But he's also very good at what he does. Just be prepared for some crazy ornate furnishings and some "entrance music..." tee-hee. I don't care, with the results I've gotten, when all other drs. told me DE.
Best of luck to you... And baby dust!

    Hi Ladies,

I just made an appointment with Dr. Check for the end of February. I am in the middle of an IVF cycle that my RE said would be better to cancel. Last IVF cycle we got 6 eggs, but this time I only have 3 growing. The doctor said we can continue since he does not expect me to do any better in different month, but now I just feel hopeless. My highest FSH was only 12.9, but I seem to be a really poor responder. I am going to see what we end up with this month and transfer everything (if anything) we get and cross my fingers, but I am sure it will be another BFN and I will be seeing Dr. Check at the end of the month.

    Hi ladies,

Well, we just did our consult with Dr. Check on 2/20 and ..it was interesting!

Overall, the hubby and I feel encouraged to say the least. We were both really nervous going into this but Dr. Check made us feel better. DH did a scsa for the first time and that was nerve wracking for him.. but he's perfect! Dr.Check even patted him on the back for "superior" sperm... so I guess that problem all lies within me.

He gaves me a handful of studies that he's done in the past where he has been able to get women pregnant - and said that due to DH not having any problems, no IVF or IUI is needed (unless we do the DE route..but we can decide on that at a later time) Dr. Check did mention that I have smaller ovaries...BUT he saw women with much smaller ovaries have babies naturally so don't give up hope. I was given a 0.1% chance with the 2 RE's I went to in the DC area..but Dr. Check said realistically - it's around 35% chance of conceiving with our own eggs. I'll take it!

I was put on the ethinyl estradiol protocol..anyone else doing that? Doing all the out of town monitoring is so confusing for me.. and I just did my first b/w order call in this morning and even messed that up! >.< But my first b/w is tomorrow morning at Labcorp so crossing my fingers/toes that the ethinyl is working. I've been taking it since last Tuesday..so it's been a week now. Not sure if it's the medication, but I'm nauseous more and SO tired at night.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Just got home an hour ago from Dr. Check's office. My appointment was at 12:00 and we got out of there around 4. It was the craziest doctors appointment I have ever been to. His office is decorated in all kinds of crazy stuff. I went into a room with him to do an exam and he has these faces with the seven deadly sins under them. He also seems to love gigantic old furniture.

He doesn't seem to think we will have any problem. He told me that my old RE was using the completely wrong protocol and that with High FSH patients low stims are better than the highest dose. He said that with low stims I will probably get the same number of eggs but they will be better quality since they are not fried by drugs. He was saying something about the mitochondria being affected by the stims.

I had blood drawn and an ultrasound and culture all done today, which is great since that is all the pretesting I need and it is done. We are good to start and IVF cycle as soon as I get my period.

My ultrasound showed that I have a mature follicle at 21.7. Dr. Check wanted me to come in tomorrow morning for a retrieval. I almost crapped my pants. He started talking about turning this cycle into a natural IVF cycle. I got sent over to the pharmacy for a HCG shot and progesterone suppositories. It turns out that my DH's doctor is not able to do the sperm aspiration tomorrow, so we will have to wait until next month, but I almost went from consult to retrieval in 24 hours.

The good news is that I will be getting my period in about 2 weeks and I will be starting IVF then. I also have enough drugs left over from my last cycle to make it through most of a low stim cycle with Check. I am really excited that 3 days of drugs with my last RE is an entire cycle with Check. It makes this whole process so much more affordable.

I will keep you all posted.

Anyone still checking in here? I am getting close to my retrieval with Check's practice. I wanted to see if any of you are cycling there now.

Hi! I was just in a mini-stim IVF cycle there that got canceled due to "emtpy follicle" at ER. Total and complete bummer...

OUt of curiosity, do you know why they gave you Menopur? I was given a prescription, but I never used it...just curious as to their criteria for adding it to your protocol.

    GL!
