25 years old with an FSH of 10????? Please help

I am new here. Me and my husband are 25 and we are trying to conceive #2. Our son was pretty much an "oops" pregnancy and I didnt think I would have problems now. He will be 3 in July. I went to an RE and I am doing the Clomid Challenge this cycle. My day 3 FSH came back at 10 and estradiol was 33. The FSH level made me very sad and discouraged.
I am only 25!!!!! Yes I have a higher chance for POF and early menopause because I am a carrier for Fragile X (genetic disease) but I still didnt think I would run into problems so soon. I am so scared the RE will not want to do more things with me. We can't really afford nor want IVF!

It's so hard when IF smacks you in the face. Especially at your young young age.

10 is right at the borderline of elevated. What you have going for you is your age. That works in your favor. You can definitely get pg with an fsh of 10. Just make sure your RE is high fsh friendly because there are lots of RE out there who just don't want to work with elevated fsh. Don't work with an RE who is discouraged only because of your level. One other thing to know, fsh can fluctuate greatly from cycle to cycle. Even though your highest reading is considered your actual level, you have a better shot at conceiving with cycles where your level is down.

I conceived my dd at 37 seven months after an fsh reading of 17.6.

Please google 'high fsh' and visit the high fsh forum. It is very helpful and insightful. And you'll see success stories with much higher fsh levels. I've seen a success story with a level of higher than 100!!

Good luck and please keep us posted!!

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I read through the success stories and they were great. I went in today to get another FSH reading, after taking clomid. I am praying its not worse.

I will. Do you think it will be much higher since I took Clomid? I heard people with high FSH to start with get an even higher level after Clomid

Do not worry. Your number is borderline. I am 35 and my FSH is 9.8 and I currently have 35 follicles in me now! Doctors only like to see 15 to 20. So my FSH hasn't hurt my follicle numbers. Your age will probably compensate for the number. I am 35 and my RE calls me 'young' compared with other patients. Good luck!

Well it was 32 today, day 10 after the Clomid. My Dr wants to do an ultrasound tomorrow bc he doesnt know what to make of it since I had chemotherapy at 18 and this may be the cause. I am devasted!!!!! I am feeling I have no chance now of ever conceiving again! I got pg with my son so easily that this is making me numb right now! I have cried all day!

Here is an excerpt from FertilityPlus website:

"FSH is often used as a gauge of ovarian reserve. In general, under 6 is excellent, 6-9 is good, 9-10 fair, 10-13 diminished reserve, 13+ very hard to stimulate."

Additionally I read somewhere that IVF clinics prefer to take patients with FSH levels lower than 15.. not sure how true that is..

    Good luck with your treatment..

I'm so glad to hear others with the same problem. I am 24 and have been trying to convieve baby #2 for about a year and half. I have an almost 4 year old that was also kind of an oops. We took our time seeking fertility help because we figured it would happen since we are so young. My fsh level was 17.6 in November. Since then I have been going through treatments... I am in the middle of my 5th clomid IUI cycle and to date have not made more than 4 folicles in a cycle. My doctors are still optimistic but if this cycle is not successful we will be moving on to IVF as my level is climbing so quickly. When I got pregnant with my son I was on birth control, I never thought getting pregnant would be a problem for us.
