i think dh and i are going shopping tomorrow and we are wanting to start eating healthier. i need to lose about 20-30 pounds, he has about 75 or so. what foods should we have on hand? what to avoid? also, how do you feed your kids the higher fat foods that they need, while doing lower fat for us. (jake is a mere 24 pounds at almost 4 and needs all the calories/fat he can get)
thanks in advance!

I try to keep lots of fresh fruit, low fat graham crackers, fat free yogurt (columbo is my fav) for my sweet tooth I like Turkey Hill fat free frozen yogurt. I really try to be good but I do allow myself 10% of my total calories for anything I want...cake cookies etc. That way I never feel like I'm deprived of anything. I also actually count out or measure out my portions...I've gotten DH to do the same it's amazing what a portion REALLY is compaired to what we THINK it is.
I don't have advice on how to keep both high fat and low fat around the house without being tempted. But I'd love to see the ideas because I'm sure I'll need them in a few years when DD is eating something other than cereal and formula.Karen

I don't have any suggestions. I just know that eating healthy is EXPENSIVE!! Do you have an Aldis near you? They have tasty sugar free popsicles. They also sell reasonable frozen tilapia filets. Does your husband like fish? It's high in protein and lowfat/calorie. I need to get back on the wagon and start eating less again
. Oh, and exercising too. It's just been so stinking hot that the thought of getting on my bike is so unappealing. My husband could lose 20lbs. He doesn't seem to know that, though
. I'm glad your husband is on board and ready to get started! Oh, one thing I would stock is chicken breasts. Those are lowfat and healthy.
