Okay, I re-read the series.
I cannot believe Snape is a good guy. Anyone see Fleur (Phlegm) becoming a larger character? What about the twins, they are my favs... Luna & Neville? Love interest or will they be forgotten. Can she possibly do it justice in one book? C'mon, I'm just tossing stuff out to get some discussion going, if anyone wants...

I love HP too and have read and re-read the books...
Snape is evil... I would have a hard time with Fleur becomming a heroine, but evil I could see... I would love to see the twins use their re-markable talents and cause a lot of problems for Valdomort. I like them too. Luna and Nelville? I'll have to think about this...They both come from old witch families. Luna despite her spaciness seems to be a strong witch, Nelville needs more self confidence to belive in himself...Okay I could see this she could be the person to bolst him up without intimidating him. Hugs

Do you think Hagrid will die in the next book?
Do you think Hogwarts will close? Will McGonagall earn Harry's trust? He will need a mentor of sorts, don't you think? If not McGonagall, who? Or none?

Great idea, stirring the Harry Potter pot. I'm rereading the series too. I'm 3/4 of the way through Prisoner of Azkaban, but I've read all the books at least twice, some many times.
Here's my two cents.... I think Snape is dark but not necessarily totally evil. He's had several opportunities to harm Harry and he doesn't. He even tries to protect him in Prisoner of Azkaban, though he takes plenty of pleasure in tormenting him in Potions. I see Snape perceived as evil to keep his place in Lord Voldemort's order. I hope Rowling continues to develop the relationship with Jenny Weasley. I think she is a force to be reckoned with. I think Harry may find a mentor in Lupin, a link to his father and Black, and a darn good wizard despite his werewolf issues. I'm also pretty sure Harry carries a Horcrux. From at least book two, Dumbledore tells Harry that some of Voldemort's powers were transferred to him the night his parents were killed and Voldemort defeated. I think V. transferred them, whether he meant to or not. There are six horcruxes- Here's what I think they are ... 1. The Gaunt family ring-destroyed 2. Tom Riddle's diary-destroyed (from book two) 3. the locket (I'm pretty sure it's in Black's house) 4. the snake, Nagini 5. the Hufflepuff chalice and 6. Harry By Harry being a Horcrux falls in line with Trelawney's prophecy that "neither can survive while the other lives" or something like that. Voldemort will always try to kill Harry to retrieve part of his soul. Oh, and I really don't think Dumbledore is dead. Too many things don't add up. But I'll leave my opinions and reasons for another discussion. Sherri B. |

Sherri...interesting point about Harry as a horcrux. It would fall in line as "something of Griffindors" in a way.
DH and I have been talking about Harry's comment about not coming back to Hogwarts. I think that is to throw everyone off the trail. First of all, the series is titled by years at Hogwarts. I also think Harry will have to go back to Hogwarts for one of the horcruxes. Something about the description of the Room of Requirement in the last book when Harry was hiding Snape's old text that seemed more than necessary, if you kwim. I am in the middle about Snape. I don't think he's all good, but I'm not entirely convinced he's all bad. He could have taken Harry out in that last battle but he didn't. He did, however, give Harry a valuable lesson that he (Harry) is not ready to face Voldemort. (All the more reason for Harry to return to Hogwarts) I am actually very disappointed in how Rowling allowed the publishers to dictate the length of the latest book. It is very obvious that she cut corners. On her website, she actually gave a list of things she would reveal in the latest book and she only revealed half of them. I think the last book will have to be a tome in order to actually answer every question she's raised.

Oh...do you think Sirius is really dead? I am wondering if there won't be a portrait of him in Grimmauld Place.

I wonder if Harry would dedicate some time/thought/training to find a way to contact/remove people/items from behind the veil.
That would require Harry to get into the Ministry on a regular basis, Percy may come back into play. I'm obviously overthinking all this stuff. Auror training is an additional 3 years after graduating Hogwarts (and I don't remember what/if any requirement of NEWT's there were). Hermione could easily become a extremely powerful witch, and Ginny is probably right behind her (bat-boxey hex). Again, I 'worry' about Hagrid. Also Grawp, how will he factor in? I see Dumbledore as dead (hope I'm wrong) and Sirius as 'not quite'. Remus could easily be the next one to go, he's 1/2 way there already. Or Arthur Weasly could go to make it personal for Ron & Ginny. I still do not see this as a 7 book series. And that's appalling as it would be another 6-8 years before it's finished if it goes 9 books as I think it would.

Doreen...I actually panicked when I read the part about Arthur Wesley getting bit by the snake. As devistating as it was to read about Sirius "dying", it would be so hard for the Wesley's to lose their dad!
I was freaked about Bill for a while there too. Lupin is a possibility because of the silver hand that Wormtail has now. I could almost see those two fighting to the death. Tho I would feel horrible for Tonks if that happened. ![]() I do think Dumbledore is dead (tho would love to be wrong) because I think it is integral to the plot. Dumbledore is the only wizard that Voldemort fears or feels is his equal. And it is typical for a master to step down/die in order for his apprentice to truly take over. I'm curious what is going to happen with the House Elves. That is an interesting angle that is a sidestory now (SPEW) but I think will have a fairly important impact somewhere. Do you think Draco is a Death Eater now? Will he come back to Hogwarts for year 7?
