hopeful4myown How is the Insulin Going?

Just checking in to see how you are doing wit the insulin. I found it easier once I was on the insulin to control my bs. My OB taught me how to increase a unit or two if I was going to eat something I shouldn't..and that was a big help for me around Christmas.

well, they keep bumping it up. i am on Levemir which is a new time release insulin that i take only at night so there isn't any opportunity to tweek per meal. I can eat the same meal from one day to the next and have a bs that is 20 points higher.... don't get it.

My OB had me on both the long acting and the short acting. My son is 11 now so I don't recall all the details. I do know that my insulin needs changed all the time during that final trimester.

What sort of exercise/activity are you doing?

    30 weeks.

As far as exercise goes... i work 40+ hours a week and chase a 2year old around in the evenings. After she goes to bed i struggle to keep my eyes open for another 30 min to fit in insulin and a final snack. Finding time to exercise is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

Even a 20 minute walk will lower your blood sugar. Strap that 2 y/o into a stroller and head out --or into a mall.

I know what you mean about just wanting to fall out but I think that daily walk (not a power walk but just a walk) helped me a great deal with delivering too.

My mom took a diabetes education class and the teacher had everyone check their blood sugar then go for a 10 minute walk (easy walking) and rechecked. Everyone's blood sugar lowered by at least 10 points--so it does work.
