Failed GTT any tips?
I failed my 1 hr GTT today. Apparently I failed so badly I dont even need to bother with the 3 hr GTT. I go tomorrow to see a nutritionalist and the nurse to learn how to take my blood sugar levels. I am so nervous! Does anyone have any tips for me? Thanks!

I don't have an answer for you but I'm wondering why you took it so early. I'm 26.5 weeks and don't have mine till next week.

LoraG, my Dr. had me take the 1hr GTT early because I have PCOS and have been on metformin for 2 years. I stopped taking metformin 2 weeks ago and he wanted to see what my blood sugars were doing once I got off of it. I guess its a good thing we caught it early. Good luck with your 1hr GTT!

Just happened to come upon this post-- and wanted to say I'm getting mine done next week at 15 weeks and don't have PCOS or really any other underlying issues that would require it. My doc's office just does them between 15-18 weeks I guess. I think there's one later on in the pregnancy too..

Lora .. I had mine on the early end of the "normal" spectrum as well (24 weeks) because of a prior IUGR pregnancy. Different medical histories and different doctors = different protocol.

its not the end of the world. you just think more about what you put into your body.
I was dx pretty early on, and I didn't mind all the testing, because insurance paid for LOTS more ultrasounds and I was seen by drs. alot more frequently. |
