The good news about GD!

I wanted to post a silver lining!! I was so frustrated when I was diagnosed with GD in the 28th week and the first month was so hard because I ate exactly how they told me to and my sugar levels were still out of control so they prescribed glyburide and I took one pill a day with dinner and continued to eat griled chicken salad pretty much every day (my job had me eating with clients in restaurants all the time) and not cheating at all until the night before my c-section when I went on a date (aproved by OB) with DH and ate like the old days. So, here I am, 12 days after c-section, my son only weighed 6lbs 1oz so the eating did the right thing, his blood sugar is fine and he is healthy and gorgeous (I know, I am a little prejudice) and here's the selfish thing about the good news about GD: I am 15 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant! WHOOOHOOOO!

Keep your chins up girls, you are being wonderful mothers already by eating right for your babies!! Hope you're feeling good!!

Isn't the nice to hear! Thanks for the encouragement. That will help inspire me for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. Congratulations by the way.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And CONGRATS on that wonderful meal - what did you have? I picture myself going nuts on mexican and pasta LOL!!!!

I'm so glad you posted this - I need to see that there is hope - I mean it's getting a little bit easier, but it's still definitely a HUGE challenge and to know that the outcome can be great - it's good to hear :-)

That's wonderful! It's great to see there's hope and it's all worth it in the end. As hard as it is, I agree, if you stick with the diet after the baby is born, it may definitely help with the weight loss!

So good to hear micheleonel! My dietician thinks the same will happen to me. With all the restrictions of the GD, I've been eating SO HEALTHY, and while the baby is getting what he needs, my dietician says I'll likely end up lighter than when I got PG too (she's actually pushing for me to eat more, even more fat, just to keep up my weight right now, and to help with my milk coming in). We're about 3 weeks away from our c-section date, so I'll just be happy if our little guy is healthy and doing fine at that point.

Thanks for posting this encouraging news! I was just diagnosed this week and have been worried and hungry! I have not seen the Dietician yet and only know what to stay away from (sort of) so it is a guessing game att his point. I just try and eat low to no card veggies and protien..green apples..scrambeled eggs...and a tiny bit of brown rice and a piece of whole wheat 12 grain bread a day...

After you meet with the dietician, you will see you can eat more than you thought! It is only temporary and you can totally get through this!

Hope you feel good!!
