Anyone have experience with this med?
I saw the high risk doc today and he decided to put me on it. I didn't think my numbers were that bad, but he wants me on it. I'm really worried - of course as soon as I looked it up, I saw all the heart attack/stroke warnings. I have a family history of heart disease, high cholestrol and bp myself and OMG - they NEVER should have given me my lab results to take over to him - I saw my pregnancy cholestrol and started bawling. Of course I got yelled at for worrying about it - my OB said that it always goes up during pregnancy, but this wasn't up - it was THROUGH the roof.
When I mentioned my concerns to the High Risk doc, he said that the warning is for long term users. With twins, being 29w now and having no room left in me, they feel I could go as early as 32w, though they are shooting for 34w (37 in a perfect world). He said the longest I'd be on Glyburide was 10w and he's not worried about it.
Any other side effects to worry about? I have to take it @ dinner and then @ breakfast and he said it was the lowest possible dose (2.5mg).
Also, is it normal to feel HORRIBLE starting this low carb diet? I've been dragging and I mean, I can't keep my eyes open - been sleeping 12+ hours easily and getting up to fall right back asleep. Granted I've been on bedrest and they said I can get up and move some now, but I wasn't even this tired in the 1st trimester. Is it a major sugar crash and my body has to adjust?
Thanks for any and all help - this is tough and I'm still waiting for my "pregnancy glow" HAHA!

Thank you!!!! I got the med tonight and there wasn't any of the warnings - I think the warnings went with the glyburide/glucophage mix. I'm worrying way too much! LOL!
Man, the tiredness is crazy - I literally can't keep my eyes open. I never realized that I was eating as much sugar/as many carbs as I was, but what a HUGE difference. I can't wait to have a little bit of energy again - it's hard to function, but then again, I guess this is REAL practice for two little ones coming my way LOL!
THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Sassy!,
I was on glyburide with my twins and on a low carb diet and on bed rest ( 5months of it!).. and i HATED it. It was really hard because i was always hungry.. and felt like i was eating for 1.. instead of for me and the twins. The glyburide i took at night to control morning sugars, but the rest of the day was controlled by diet.
It does get better once you get used to it. *hugs*
