not much support!

Feel free to keep in touch. I'm not finding much support. I had 2 mc, 1 healthy live birth, 2 more mc and finally did the genetic testing last November. I'm hoping to start the IVF/PGD process in the next month or two. It's a confusing and difficult process working with the genetic lab before IVF can be started. Good luck to you as well.

experiences?

Aside from success stories, I'm looking for anybody who can share their experience with PGD. Thanks!

I have a balanced translocation of Chromosome 1 & 2 and I was very fortunate and blessed to not have to do IVF or PGD and became pg naturally. I have had over 6+ known m/c's and my re says' probably alot more than that. I am now blessed with a beautiful almost 8 year old dd and my spunky 4 year old son. My son is also a carrier of the same balanced translocation as me Natural conceptions can happen as well, I wish you all well in your journey to parenthood

Hi guys.

I have a reciprocal tranclocaiton on chromosome 1. I have 1 beautiful son who was conceived as my first pregnancy naturally. After 2 miscarriages I was tested and discovered the issue.

I am now nearing the end of my first IVF cycle so we can do PGD.

Terese, I have been told as well that I can conceive naturally (my son is proof) but the wait is what scares me. If I lose the baby it will be anywhere from 7-10 weeks and I can not sit still that long waiting....I am terrified. And they cant do any tests until about 12 weeks, so it is a moot point.

I am so happy to have found this board!

Hi fiona

Its so hard isnt it, im slowley loosing hope but am trying so hard not to. got a appointment with my consultant next thurs to se whats next as my pgd failed. Try not to worry about being pregnant. I knew nothing of mollie balance translocation untill i was 16 weeks pregnant. my view is if it manages to implant then i believe it will stay as normal unbalanced do not have to strength to implant.so come away before you know it probably unfortunately like your miscarraiges.

Try to be strong honey thats all we have to believe in we cant give up! xx

Terese x

Hello Ladies,

I also have recently been diagnosed with a Balanced Translocation as well... we are still processing the information and gathering information if there are additional infertility issues going on as well, so I don't have treatment experience to share at this point. The Genetic Counselor that we have been working with recommended these 2 sites on PGD.. the first is a little more 'user friendly'

http://www.givf.com/pgd/chromosomerearrangements.cfm

http://www.reprogenetics.com/pgd_translocation.html

Hope that might help someone... depending on the chromosomes involved the 'odds' and thus medical advice can be quite different... I still have a hard time thinking in numbers and percents... for better or worse the seemingly impossible happens somewhere everyday.. so how do you make emotional decisions that involve life, health, and belief systems based on information that feels like it belongs in a Vegas casino?? Here's to hoping we all get lucky! Thanks to those to have shared already, and I'm curious to hear others experiences and how they are navigating through this unfamiliar territory~

Hi Terese - I am new to this site, and I'm sorry to read about your failed PGD. Do you know if your partner carries a translocation as well? My dr & genetic counselor have highly recommended PGD for me since i have had 3 failed pregnancies consecutively. I, too am trying not to lose hope but its hard, especially since I found out at 18weeks that my 3rd pregnancy has unbalanced chromosomes just earlier this week. My fear is to go through with this procedure to find out that all embryos are no good. I'm afraid! My husband and I do not have much money to spend but we love to have kids and have been trying for the past 2 years. I appreciate your feedback!
