Calcium and Lovenox?

I'm on 40mg a day for compound hetero MTHFR. I've been reading that it can block calcium absorption and cause osteoporosis with long time use.

So my question is, are you on a supplement? If so, how much? My prenatal is contains 250 mg of Calcium and 400iu of vitamin D2 (I'm not sure what the 2 is). I mentioned it to my OB and she said I could take Caltrate 500 mg with vitamin D.

Thanks for your help.

Lora

My dr. also mentioned it.. I wasn't sure what to do about it. He also told me to take 1500 mg of calcium every day as it is. As it is I have trouble with the tums/viactive. I just have a hard time getting it down - not to mention the bad taste it leaves me.

I did some reasearch online and aparently 9 months of lovenox is not really long term. So I dont' think we do have to be too concerned, although you can pop a tums whenever you remember, it shouldn't hurt.

I'd discount whatever the prenatal has, bc if it has iron in it as well, then apparently the 2 don't interact well together, and might cancel eachother out.

i agree with diet. both prednisone and lovenox may cause osteoporosis if taken long term... 9-11 months is not long term.
