Homozygous PAI-1 / heterozygous Factor XIII

OK, this is my first post so I apologize for the length but I felt I needed to give a little history...

My first cousin has thrombophilia. She says it is MTHFR. She had a clot under age 30 and is on coumadin for the rest of her life. (She just had a healthy baby boy so all is well on that front.) We go to the same OBGYN, so when my husband and I decided to start trying, she had a Thrombophilia panel run.

Doctor called me and said, "You have what your cousin has". She said homozygous PAI-1 / heterozygous Factor XIII but didn't mention the MTHFR? Biggest insight she had was that because I am over 30, I probably won't have a clot present; and that no more BCP for the rest of my life. I was a bit floored and really didn't ask anymore since she said next step was to see a RE. (Who we see tomorrow) My cousin also suggested a hematologist. (Who we see in 2 week.s)

So now to my question...

Does anyone have any insight on the PAI-1 / Factor XIII thing and how this relates to MTHFR? Can you be homozygous PAI-1 / heterozygous Factor XIII but not have MTHFR? I'm just a bit confused.

Thank you for any information!
