Yellow discharge at 37 weeks? TMI

I've had discharge throughout the pregnancy. It has mostly been white, drying to an off white/yellow.

Now, I'm having yellow discharge that looks just like the other discharge just more yellowish. I can feel it come out after I've been laying down for awhile. I called my OB (my OB wasnt in, so I spoke to the other OB who is a woman and very good) who questioned if it burned, itched, or smelled, and it doesn't. She said it could be the beginning of my plug breaking down.

I emailed my own OB to get his perspective. It just makes me nervous! It definitely doesn't look like amniotic fluid, as it is clumpy. Any thoughts?

If it is clumpy it may be your mucous plug. Does it have a texture kind of like a jellyfish or jello maybe? That is what my mucus plug looked like when I lost it.

Amniotic fluid is very runny like urine - completely different texture than discharge.

My plug was just like Jen described. Clearish/yellowish jello/jellyfish.

I had biophysical today and asked the tech about it. She had 4 kids, is very knowledgeable, etc. She said it is normal. I don't think it is my mucus plug but don't know. I guess it doesn't matter right now, you don't go to the hospital for a lost plug anyway.

My OB had me go to the Hospital when I lost my plug just to be checked out. I ended up going home but water did break not shortly after.

My discharge changed to a yellow color as soon as I got pregnant- I was told that it's because of the increased/ changing hormones. If it's not your mucus plug, maybe your hormones are changing in preparation for labor?

If you can handle pictures of it, google "mucus plug" and then look at the images for mucus plug. I had to do it, curiosity got the better of me!

so I think I just lost my plug...I'm 35w2d...do I need to call L and D? I really don't want to since I was just in the hospital for 4 days last week and I'd rather wait until I feel something else (contractions or water breaking or something)...what do you think? Ahh I know you're going to tell me to call!

Ash...what does it look like? Are you having contractions? My OB said you don't need to call regarding the mucus plug. It seems like other OBs may think differently.

There wasn't any blood in it...it was just like long strips of clear/yellowish jelly stuff. I googled and there are pictures (ew) and it looked like a few of the pictures up there so I'm pretty sure thats what it was. I'm not having any contractions that I've noticed. I'm going to lay down on the couch and really pay attention to what I'm feeling just in case. Have you had any contractions Midnight? Can you believe we are so close???
