    Diastasis Recti? ouch!

I think i have diastasis recti (am 31 weeks pregnant). i had twins my first pregnancy and was enormous, so that is probably why. i am pretty big now with a singleton at +30 lbs at 31 weeks. my doctor told me a few months back that my stomach muscles had separated. over the last few weeks it has been very painful. if i lift or cough/sneeze too hard or bend over too much, i get a searing pain across my abdomen, about half way between my belly button and breasts. I am going to call my doctor to make sure this is what it is and if there is anything else i can do to help the pain. or maybe a pulled or torn muscle? looking for any info if anyone has had this before. thanks!

ugh, i'm so sorry for your pain sweetie. i didn't have this but i remember reading about it several times. do you think maybe a maternity belt would help ease the pain. it helps hold the belly a little so it takes a little strain off your muscles. i would ask your doc about it. if you have insurance they might even cover it.

I got this with my twins. It has never healed. My muscles are still separated several inches. I also have the pain when bending over too far.
