    frequent bowel movements...sign of labor?

Sorry in advance for the TMI! I am 37 weeks today and I can not stop pooping! Yesterday I went 5 times and today so far I've been twice. I don't have an upset tummy and I don't have diarrhea. I just have to poop, a lot! I've read that diarrhea is a sign that labor might not be far off...what about just frequent bathroom runs? One of my friends said this is always a sign for her and that I could be close. Anyone have any personal experience with this?

Yes, it can be a sign that you are getting closer. The day the I went into labor with DD I had a lot of flu-like symptoms--nausea, loose and frequent stools, and fatigue and achiness. I think the diarrhea is almost your body's natural way of cleaning you out before the birthing process. During labor for me, I also continued to constantly feel like I had to pee or poop (that is until I got my epidural and I felt not a thing!). It can also be caused by the baby pushing downward. Good luck!

Take some time and observe if you are having painless contractions. Put your hand on your tummy and check for tightening, though they may be spaced far apart timewise. They could be causing cramps in your intestine or even just helping your poo along. I would take it as a sign for delivery getting close.

Drink lots of water! You will need it, going into labor or not!

I had this issue about a week ago mixed along w/ contractions. (this is the first time w/ 3 babies that I felt any contractions) I had some bleeding and all. My dh thought for sure this would be it. Here I am a week later and just the regular stuff. It could be a start or just like others said lots of movement going on in there.
    Good luck!
