a friend of mine had this and didn't have any luck with the zofran either. they resorted to giving her a pump. she had catheter placed through her lower abdomen and had this medication and pump attached to her belt (or pant waist.) i don't know if it pumped out medication at regular intervals or if she had control of the pump based on need. maybe your dd can mention this to the doc and see if it's something that might help her.
i know prior to my friend having this placed, she was really sick. i hope things grt better. best wishes.....

I know we all dont want to "bother" the Dr but she needs to!
Has she been released to a ob or is this the RE? Id call the ob now and get them on board if not. She should be seen throwing up blood doesnt sound good. Hope youll get some answers tomorrow. You might have to get a power of attourny so they will tell you things and help with her care? I dont know in my ob clinic I just had to sign a form who it was okay to talk to about my treatment if anyone. Let us know well be thinking of you all.

Jeez Louise, your DD is suffering enough. This is NOT normal and most importantly, most often treatable with a very safe medication. Dehyrdation and starvation are not good things, especially when pregnant.
Update us when you can, sending you all good wishes

When I went for my first OB visit I wrote, very clearly, on my paperwork that the clinic had permission to discuss ALL aspects of my care with my husband AT ANY TIME, and I put down his cell phone and pager number. My doctor said that she really appreciated the note and said it might make her life a little easier if something came up.
It sounds like your daughter is very sick. I think you should make an appointment to go to the OBs office ASAP, and go with her. When you go, have her take a letter that they can put in her chart that gives the clinic permission to discuss all aspects of her care with you. Be sure it is dated and signed. She might want to do the same for her husband. Good luck. I hope your daughter starts feeling better very soon.

I emailed you !!!
I FORGOT TO ADD THAT
Your daughter need to be with a perinatologist. My SIL dr. transfered her to one, he was the best and they know all about HG. Here is a website all about it and there you can find a dr. in your area who can treat her. http://www.helpher.org/ You could also email this woman, kimber@hyperemesis.org. I emailed her when Holly was sick and she was of great help. This website you point you in the right direction! Please stick with it and get her help HG can be very scary just dont let her give up or feel like she is a bother to anyone. Holly said it was like having the flu /food poisoning / and a hang over all in one for about 8 months. She literaly couldn't stop throwing up! I hope I have helped. Katie |

I am 26 weeks pg with twins and have had HG since about 10 weeks.
I take Zofran 8mg, orally dissolving tablets. You don't need water to take those. I also take phenergan and reglan. the 4mg Zofran did not work for me either, but the 8mg does. She may need a Zofran pump, which is what my insurance company is wanting me to get. It's kind of like an IV of Zofran that you wear. Has she tried any other drugs, like phenergan? It makes you sleepy, but it does work usually. It IS very miserable and it has caused me to miss 3 months of work. I had some spotting early on as well and it was nothing. the bleeding while throwing up can be caused by inflammation to the esophagus. She needs to go to her doc and have a serious talk about how it is effecting her. While she's there, she can sign an authorization form for you to be able to talk to the doc/nurses about her. That gets you around HIPAA. I've searched for info online about HG as well and there's not much. Really all you need to know is that it needs to be controlled so she an eat and drink. At 26 weeks I have not gained a single pound with twins!!! but I manage to keep fluid down. With twins you're supposed to have about 3100 calories a day and I eat about 1000-1500. If her doc is not sensitive enough to the problem, GET A NEW DOC! It's that simple. Or take her to the ER, she can't get dehydrated! Feel free to email me if you want to: daisymae_5326@yahoo.com I hope you get it under control. I would try the Zofran pump. hugs, Daisy |
