Suggestions to get baby to move down?????

Hi ladies. I am almost 36 weeks and at my OB appointment yesterday I was told that if the baby does not move down within the next two weeks that I will have to have a section, which I am trying to aviod! He has to be delievered at 38 weeks because I have GD and BP problems. My OB says that he would rather see me go in to labor than to have to induce me because he does not want either of us to have to go through that trauma since I have already had so many problems. He lifted all of my restrictions and told me to walk a 1/2 mile to 1 mile every day as long as I do not get too hot in our climate. He also told me that I can now work in the yard. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what else may help? He is vertex and was furthur down last week, but this week he hi higher again and we want him engaged!

Each day as I watch you struggle I am reminded to find joy in the little things, to stop and smell the flowers, and that some things are more important than material things. Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son.

Some women don't actually engage until they go into labor. If you
have a deadline of 38 weeks, I would insist that they give you a trial
of an induction and then if that does not work, you can always do a
c-section if a labor trial does not work. Granted, it is more inconvenient
for the doc, but that should not be the reason it is decided. My dh
(an ob/gyn) puts the mom in the hospital the night before and gives
a cervical ripening medicine to "ripen" the cervix if necessary and then
starts the good 'ol pitocin in the morning. After about 12 -14 hours of
labor (or sooner if the babe does not tolerate it) you should have an
idea if it is going to work or not. He's even turned off the pitocin at
night and let the mom sleep through and do the section the next morning
if they want and the babe is fine. Of course, you would not be ruptured,
or that changes the whole timeline of a safe delivery. He usually will
not rupture the membranes until the mom gets to 5-6 cm and is progressing
nicely, baby looking good, etc. Good Luck!!! Mine are breech at 30 weeks
(twins) and I'm getting real nervous too. Someone better flip soon!!!

This is the problem...they can not do a trial induction (he will not induce me at all~if I do not go own my own within two weeks we are going to have a scheduled section). They are too concerned about the baby going in to distress if he is not engaged because of the fact that my blood pressure spikes really high sometimes for no reaon, but it will be a lot higher with the pain considering the fact that I can not have a spinal or epidural due to a spinal problem that I also have. So, if he does not move down and get ready on his own, I have to be put to sleep for a section, which I was really hoping to avoid. After a dozen years of ttc this child I want to hear his first cry myself!!!!

I also forgot to add that my OB does not suggest using pitocin for me because the pain in my back was severe before, so we know that it will be horrible during labor and using it would just make my contractions stronger and my labor harder.

I wish I knew how to get the baby to move down. I'm 41 weeks and she's still very high. I hope that if they induce next weeek that she moves down.

    Good luck to you!
