    Slow rising Beta...need help!!!

I'm trying to find out from maybe people on here that have heard other stories like this....do you think this could work out for me or am I headed for a let-down??
    12dp3dt - Beta: 233
    14dp3dt - Beta: 287

It's rising but not doubling...my doctor had me setup the first sonogram on the 14th....do you think there's hope??

hi kitten...i'm sorry for your frustrations. that increase from day 12-14 seems a bit questionable. but then you had a decent jump from 14-17. althought there's a *rule of thumb* about betas doubling in 48 hours, it's not like that for everyone. beta's that double in 72 hours are also considered *normal.* your second beta came in a little short of doubling. will your doc run another beta? or does he just want you towait for the u/s?

I too had very slow rising betas. We did go on to see a h/b but we lost our baby last week. My RE feels the slow betas were a sign that something was wrong with the baby to begin with. That DOESNT mean thats the case with you. There are many many stories of funky betas that end up beatiful babies!! Dont give up and I will keep you in my prayers!!

Sorry to say I'm right thre with you -- slow riser, not doubling appropriately (averaging either side of 100 hours to double). I had 5 drawas in a row, each 2 days apart, and a 6th draw 6 days later. They never got better.

At my first u/s (which was primarily to try and rule out ectopic) they saw a 5 week gestational sac -- I should have been more like 6 weeks (triggered IUI) but they said "possibly late O and/or late implantation" -- at second u/s (5 days later) they saw a yolk sac (wasn't there before), consistent with 5.5weeks or so. My betas still not looking good. They are not hopeful, but they said there's certainly a chance based on the u/s.

I'm in limbo. They won't do another beta, but they will do another u/s next week (Wed the 14th). I'm also very frustrated.

The waiting is terrible, but if there's any hope I'm going to try and ride it out. The numbers I've seen say "85% of normal pgs have doubling betas between 48-72 hours in the early weeks" -- but they don't say anything about the other 15%!

Here's hoping we're both in that other 15%. :-) I'm trying to have some hope. I think you should too. I know it's very difficult.

I'm happy to keep you company while we wait. (I thought the 2ww was bad!)

    Good luck,
    -Tia

Hi Tia! Wow I can see how frustrated you must be...and I thought I was stressed!!! I have my first on the 14th (when you go back as well!) and I'm so nervous....I just want this all to be okay...of course if I kept getting beta level checks I would know what's going on since my last one, but they just want to wait till Wednesday to do the u/s...it's really worse than the 2ww because you know you're going to get a yes or no....you never think that once you get the yes, this will happen....it's just so frustrating because if it's not going to work you wish it would have just ended at the 2ww....but I'm praying that both of us won't have to worry about that because next Wednesday will be a miracle for both of us! Our little embryos are holding on for dear life and they will continue to grow!!!!

Tia, here are my betas from DD and my current pg. Hopefully this makes you feel better....

DD 1st 61, 2nd, 115, 3rd 393, 4th 1374 (we think this is when one split into two) I was pg with triplets with those numbers...

    Current pg 1st 46, 2nd 70, 3rd 178, 4th (5 days later) 2797. Only one baby this time

They suspected an ectopic with the 2nd one and my u/s revealed a perfectly healthy singleton. At my next u/s with my OB at 8wk5d, my perfect little angel came in with a hb of 177 bpm and was measuring right on shedule at 8wks + or - 3 days. So, beta's can be very deceiving. I'm a perfect one for slow rising betas and not doubling every 48 hrs. So, take it easy and remember that there isn't always a ryme or reason to beta's. Everyone is different and those numbers can and do fluctuate greatly from woman to woman and pg to pg. Good luck! The good thing is that you're pg, so try to hang onto that wonderful thought
