Question anyone have myomectomy and pregnant?

I had a myo in 2000 and I'm now 22w pregnant. I was just wondering if you had/have any issues in pregnancy because of this? I've noticed cramping lately and I'm wondering if the scar tissue can get irritated. I've done some research, but can't find much, does a previous myo put us at risk for PTL? Just wondering if anyone out there is in the same boat.

Robin

Hi Robin! I had a myomectomy to remove 7 fibroids (2 were grapefruit-sized and 5 were plum-sized, so were talkin faily huge and lots of scar tissue) and now have a 2 1/2 year old DD and am currently ttc#2. I too worried about my uterus being able to withstand a pg, but my Dr assured me that the uterus is an amazingly resiliant organ. All was well, I carried my DD to 39 weeks and had a scheduled c-sect; it was an uneventful pg. She was 8lbs3oz and 21" long, so a big girl!
PTL probably has more to do with your cervix. I doubt that scar tissue from the myo will cause PTL. Bring up your concerns with your Dr at your next appt and he/she should be able to reassure you. I remember being somewhat anxious throughout my pg, so I definately feel your pain. Hang in there, your halfway home!

I had a myomectomy (they removed something like 23 fibroids) 10 years ago and am currently 23w pregnant with twins. In addition, I delivered a singleton almost 4 years ago. I've been told that there are more potential issues from existing fibroids (if any) than from the previous myo. I haven't had any fibroid-related problems in this pregnancy (although I had some in my prior one).
Good luck!
