Babybeat experts - I need HELP!
I got my Babybeat today and tried to find my baby's hb. Of course, I followed all of the directions but only was able to find my own! If I wasn't already stressed this is about to put me over the edge! Tell me what I am doing wrong!

barging here because I am not pg, but I can totally relate. I found that my ds's hb was way below my belly button, and sometimes I had to turn the wand at a sharp angle to find anything. It was always much lower than I thought it should be. Keep trying, and try not to panic. Though that is easier said than done!

Meredith, I already gave you some tips on our due date board, but here's what worked for me last night -
Use lots and lots of gel and place the probe way down low on your belly, just above your hairline. The baby is more than likely below your belly button or just to either side of it, but way down low. Move the probe around extremely slowly and alter the angel slightly. If you are patient enough, I'm sure you'll find the heartrate. The real key here is having the probe low enough and moving it slowly. Good luck! Hugs, ![]() Sirell 10w3d

My hb monitor says that you usually can't hear it until 20 weeks. Maybe your monitor can detect it earlier. Anyway, my friend was NEVER able to hear the hb at ANY point in her pregnancy. It was the position that the baby was in. She delivered a perfect baby girl. Hope that this puts your mind at ease a little.

I was able to find my baby's h/b at 10 weeks with my babybeat however it was not very consistent. I had to go really low at first..not sure how far along you are in your pg? But you might want to go very low towards your pubic bone. I started being able to find the h/b regularly around week 11.5-12. Good luck.

The 2 times my OB has "searched" for the HB were at 11 and 15 weeks, and she couldnt' find it at all the first time and then the 2nd time it took her about 10 min to find it. It may just be soon to hear it on your own.
I'm sure everything is fine...and you are the perfect example why I didn't rent one. Robin

Meredith,
Try really low (down to pubic bone) and then tilt the wand so that it's pointing down and "beneath" the pelvic bone. It will be faint, but it's there! The baby is just very tiny and it takes lots of patience. I had better luck finding it than my dh did simply because I knew how much pressure was comfortable kwim? Don't give up. I'm no size 5 and I found the hb's for both pregnancies starting at 10 weeks. ![]() Let us know!

Another tip I have, I found this bean at 8.5weeks was this. I found it every time but it was way over to the right or maybe left on you, almost near the hip bone. I was able to find it every time there and still find it there easier then any place else.
good luck Amy |

I can totally relate Meredith! I ended up at the ER within days of receiving my BabyBeat. I just couldn't hear it that early. I did find my own, and a rate of about 109 near my ovaries, which was still too low to be baby's. I didn't hear it until 10w5d at the doctor's office. A couple of days later I started being able to find it at home.
