Babybeat - heart monitor
Hello all, I like many of you am in the early stages of pregnancy (9w1d today), due to everything my dh and I have gone through to get to this point, I am so worried that something is going to go wrong. I have seen a lot on the different boards on BabyBeat - the heartmonitor....does anyone have any information on this?
It seems expensive, either $500+ to buy or $30 a month to rent. Is it worth it? Has anyone used it? Is it easy to use? Just looking for any information Thanks!

I think it depends on your personality. For some it can be very reassuring. For others it can heighten paranoia. If you think you will get obsessive about it, I would probably not recommend it because sometimes it can be hard to find the heartbeat and that can really freak you out. But if you are going to be in panic attacks anyway, then I think it can be reassuring.
The babybeat is essentially the same doplar that your OB will use to hear the heartbeat. The normal timeframe for hearing it is 12-14 weeks. Some women can hear it sooner, some not until later, depending on how thin you are, what the baby's position is and where the placenta is. The down side to the baby beat I think is when most want to use it is the time that it is most difficult to find the h/b. Once you start feeling movement, I think most women send theirs back because you have another way to "check up" on the baby.

Rented mine and loved it. I still have it as we speak, even though I will be 35 weeks tomorrow. It's just my lifeline and it's so wonderful to hear that heart beat away after all my miscarriages.
To me it's worth every penny. Tanja

I LOVED mine and I can't wait to start using it again. I used it starting at 12w - every morning and every night of every single day!!!! Sometimes I'd do it even more
I kept it the entire pregnancy and then ended up buying it. They applied all my rental payments towards the purchase of it. It's home sitting in the closet just waiting to get out & get used.I would highly recommend it. Good luck in deciding.

LOVE mine! Mine arrived just yesterday. I'm 10w4d and was able to find the hb yesterday. I found it at the same time with my son's pregnancy.
The sound of htat little heart beating away just makes me smile. We kept it last time from 10wks to around 21 wks. At that point I could feel the baby moving constantly and didn't feel the need to pay $30 each month anymore. I figure I'll send it back this time around 20 weeks again I'm sure. For now, it's just fun and Matthew is fascinated by the heartbeat.

I rented the Babybeat for both pregnancies. I did the CVS test for both pregnancies and it was my piece of mind to be able to hear the baby whenever I wanted to before each appointment. I returned it once the baby started moving alot.

I just rented one and it arrived a few days ago. I tried it the first day at 12 weeks and found the h/b. We've used it a few times since - - it is definitely the reassurance I was looking for. I rented the babybeat for 3 months, thinking that would get me to the point of feeling the baby move. I'd also recommend one with digital readout - - very easy to use!
