Any soothing music suggestions for labor & delivery?

Nothing like waiting until the last minute! I decided to fill up my MP3 player with soothing music that I can listen to during labor.

So far, I've added some Norah Jones and Harry Connick, Jr songs. I have a huge library of music (many, many genres) saved on my PC but I was hoping people had some suggestions to make this a little easier for me.

So, what music would YOU choose??

Last time I used a CD I have that is full of music about being a parent. I'll use the same again. It has songs like "Butterfly kisses" by Bob Carlisle. That helped me maintain focus on what I was there for. Good luck with your birth. I'm looking forward to hearing about you L&D & seeing pics of the new baby.

I'm totally going John Denver. Now, I'm not really the hippie type, but I figure if you're going for a home birth, you might as well embrace your "natural" side With my first labor, I went with James Taylor--big mistake!!! He's soothing and all, but his songs are all so different, the transition from song to song was really jarring. All John Denver songs sound the same---that's really helpful!

I was just watching the Catholic channel the other day (EWTN) and I am protestant, but they had a litergy going on that was very mesmorizing. I jokingly told my husband that I should tape that and listen to it through labor :-o.. It might have a very calming effect!

But I've also thought, hmm.... maybe I should get some METALLICA and that might throw me into "rough & tough" mode. Seriously, music like that makes you feel like you can take anything on, hehe.

Then onto my more feminine side... I think some Stevie Nicks might be terrific for calming the nerves. She has such a beautiful voice and great feminine songs.

Personally I have 6 more months to think about it. Maybe bring a variety with ya so you can chose as your moods swing!
